Hi Zack,
Yes, we received the ECU ok. Our lab has the ECU and they are going to
work on figuring out and updating the software. Not sure how long this
will take but give it at least a week for them to work on it. We will send
you an e-mail when the ECU ships.

Best regards,

deezo Aug 26, 2005 11:15 AM

We played around on the highway a couple of nights ago and his car hauls. Damn 5 speeds!

To be honest, after looking at the dyno sheets it doesn't look like it was worth it. Zach's car is making great power with the stock ECU and the graph show a linear line up about 5500 IIRC. It doesn't have a deep dip like the other guys that have dynoed with the MEVI in the past.

You guys might think I'm nuts but how many people have dynoed with the MEVI before knowing they had a bad KS?

I have a confession to make, when I put the MEVI on a couple of years ago, the car ran terribly. If I left the butterflies open, I couldn't accelerate from 60 to 80. I just drove the car around like that until I got my Y pipe with made things better. But, there was still a lag in the midrange which was typical for running a MEVI without and ECU. I recently ran the codes so that I could get the car inspected and the KS showed up.

Joe helped my by replacing it and I connected the stock ECU back in thinking about how boring it was going to be driving this car and I was wrong. The KS alone brought back a ton of power I lost thinking it was just because I was running the MEVI without and upgraded ECU. I'm convinced that if any 4th Gen VQ is suffering HP loss with the bad KS, it's noticeably worse with the MEVI.

With the new KS, it's like I'm driving around with my TS ECU.

NmexMAX Aug 30, 2005 06:39 AM

I actually changed my KS ~ 1 month before going MEVI, though I never dynoed ... I still didn't feel the massive low-midrange loss that most others felt, but .. i have no dynos to compare.. and I hate the butt dyno .. I still have my USIM though ... one of these days I'll be rich and can afford to dyno them both :gotme:

Nealoc187 Aug 30, 2005 08:57 AM

MEVI gets rid of that dip somewhat if I recall.

Anyways I lost 15 ft-lb from one dyno to another with the addition of mevi, though these were different dyno machines. I dynod 182hp 189tq with intake and ypipe, and then after mevi addition I dynod 184hp and 174tq.

NmexMAX Aug 30, 2005 10:10 AM

Then again, the USIM, is peaky, and not very linear.

I also remember some people noting that the MEVI lost overall average HP.. So from 1.5k-6.5k ther was actually a loss .. But who knows, all the tables seem to be turned now.
