O2 sensor questions..
 
I have to change my o2 sensor. Is it a DIY? Is it better to get original (dealership), or buy an aftermarket BOSH? Also i have 2000 i30, and assume that i need Front - OE Type Before Catalyst sensor, not Rear-OE, am i correct?

Maybe you should at least try and DIY before posting such a primative and entry level question in an 'Advanced Performance Section'.


Yes it's a DIY, but that could mean many things... Some people install their own o2 sensors, some do not.

I myself change my own o2 sensors. I can do it with a normal wrench, but it may be easier with a special o2 sensor socket which has a slot reserved for the wiring on the side of the sensor itself. These can be rented or bought at your local AutoZone/Checker for a nominal fee.

I buy my o2 sensors at www.pinnicalenissan.com. This place is cheap (wholesale prices) and everything is OEM, so the quality is credible. I may also suggest www.oxygensensors.com.

If you know which sensor needs repalcement, either of the the websites provided can help to find you the item you need, and it also can decipher which o2 sensor you are trying to locate, whether it be a primary or secondary ( before or after cat in the case of the A32)

So in short, if you can find the sensor location on your particular vehicle, have some $$$ for the sensor itself, and have a wrench handy... you should be able to change it on your own.

That's the thing. Auto-Zone guys don't know which one it is. The massage was: "PO175 Fuel System Rich, Bank 2".

If the code is for a rich bank, why are you looking to the O2 sensor? I'd check the FPR but that's just from experience....I got a "Bank 1/2 lean" code so I checked the FPR and sure enough, the vaccum source was f'ed up. Also, this is All Motor, not a regular discussion forum. I'd suggest taking this to 5th gen or I30/I35...

my mech. suggested that it was an o2 sensor when he got this code.

I thought it was motor if it's under the hood....
