Wideband o2 decisions, decisions, decisions
2k2 6spd Nissan Max...standard bolt ons and Apex-i VAFCII piggyback unit..
So now I'm in the market for a WBo2 sensor...I'm not interested in an external gauge becuz I don't like light shows....I'm more interested in datalogging with the laptop...so far I see PLX R300, Innovate LM-1, Zeitronix ZT-2...and a few others I prob forgot....
Zeitronix ZT-2 seems to be a cheap and effective route....it has datalogging features and RPM...thats my main concern right there....able to datalog AFR per RPM...
Also, how hard is it to install one of these babies? I already have 2 spare bungs in my test pipe...how about the RPM wire? do I just hook it up to my tachometer wire? any further detailed explaination would be greatly appreciated!

Installation isn't hard if you know which wires to tap. I had a harder time routing the harness from the exhaust through the firewall into the car. I had to take out the glove box assembly to get more access.
The ZT-2 installation instructions will tell you which wires you need to tap. IIRC, a 12V source and tach. The wideband o2 just fits directly in your standard o2 bung

and how is the zt-2 treating you btw?

also, would a 2nd gear pull be okay for tuning? i'm tryin to shoot for mid-range power too...and doing 3rd and 4th gear pulls on the freeway are kinda dangerous since I'm going real fast....and 3rd gear at 65 is above 4k...kinda steep
I'm looking to do maybe a 2nd gear punch at 1500

pull tach and power from safc. since you have them tap from the ecu already, its simple to tap into those wires( easier to get to). I would say tune in 3rd or 4th to get the best performace. Second gear is too short and when i pull datalogg in second they can be inconsistent at times. Also in 2nd gear you may not see full power like you would in 3rd and 4th so tune let like to would on a dyno.
I tune in 3rd on the freeway in the late night so cars are at the minimal, I dont want to tune in 4th for the same reason that top of 4th its like 130ish for me where as 3rd is still around 100mph.

download the datalogger from their site. Its fairly simple and user friendly. IMO its the best wb02 for the buck. you dont even need to buy the display which puts you only at $279

I've been poking around thinking about the zt-2. I have a laptop on the way, and looking to data log my stock 3.0 while its still in there.
From what I've seen the price for zt-2 seems to be the best bang for buck
Have you ordered yours yet Steve88?

I remember now.... you need power, ground, and tach signal. Since you already have these tapped for the S-AFC, just tap into those wires as previously mentioned to make life easier.
The unit has been real neat, my only complaint is the LCD display screen is too large. But I plan to modify it somewhat into a smaller unit.
A 2nd gear pull would be too short and there isn't as much load on the engine vs. 3rd or 4th gear (each higher gear will have a slightly higher A/F... on my car at least). You'll have to find a empty highway late at night. I go on the 71 freeway around 1-2 am. There is a stretch of nothing before the 91 about 2-3 miles long. I do 3rd gear, 2500-7100 rpm (tops out around 110 mph)

I was looking into the zeitronix awhile back. I think I saw something about being able to download via. palm pilot. Does anyone know about this? If you don't have an o2 bung how hard would it be to get a shop to do it?

Alright 12v and tach from the AFCII it is! but quick question...do I tap it in from the AFCII wire side, or the ECU wire side?
Larrio - hwy 71 near the 91 is a good spot? I'll have to check it out sometime....isn't that a toll road though? Or is that the 73...

The 73 is a toll road and has speed traps. The 71 becomes a 1-2 lane highway right before it merges with the 91 freeway. Its quite desolate out there. I usually make a few passes at normal speed to scope things out before going ***** out. Recommended to bring a radar detector just in case

The power source is ecu wires but you're just getting it further down the line if you know what I mean. you can tap right before or after the safc connection plug (where you can disconnect the display from the wires). since the safc wires are cover by a black plastic loom, just cut before the connector(the loom to give you more room) and tap in from there. Tap red for power, tach is green and tps is gray. you'll need tps too for dattalogging.

u can read the TPS on the laptop too. nothing extra to buy but you dont need to hook it up fi u dont need to. Also i believe you can hook up the MAF votage to be monitored as the unout user function. Its +5v compatible.
