how to Tell if a Block is warped.

What signs and indications can I look for to see if a block is warped? I picked up a 3.5 dirt cheap beacuse it had a blown head gasket. With the original owner the radiator went and thats about the extent of the history I got on the motor. 80k, Looks to be in great shape, but one can only tell once the motor is torn down.

Straightedge and feeler gauge. The procedure is documented in the haynes manual. The heads should be checked as well.

if you're not sure of what you're doing to check the block, then you need to take it to a machine shop and pay them to check it for you. If you ask nicely, they'll teach you how to do it while they're checking it.

Thanks for the info. Didnt know they haynes contained a way of checking will consult that and examine the block.

Kevlo911: One is in excellent shape getting prepped. Once I'm done with that one the 2nd gets prepped and its fate is still yet to be determined.
