Another Complete 00VI Swap!!
Well guys.. thanks for all of your help.. My 00VI swap is finally complete now.. after a couple of hit and miss trys i finally got it fully complete.. thanks also to my buddy blake (xlcrew) for hangin in there like a true friend.. after the long nights and all the headaches.. but i can finally say it was well worth it.. and now i cant wait to get my new rpm switch in so i can fine tune the activation point.. and sooner or later get a vafc.. after i get some more spare time ill post some pics of the swap..

i will say that the car is a little bit more fun to drive now, and it will get a little bit better as the ECU learns everything. it was a bit trying with the install but some of it was our fault in not reading enough and the other was just plain bad luck, but now we got it up and running great. we ran his car against mine and i was able to pull him but it was still fun. it was a fun expirience and i would like to do it again someday. to all of you that plan on doing this do some homework and read all the info you need is here on the .org Jason glad you like it and now we need to go back to thunder valley and see what you run.

oh i have one right now.. just dont like it.. so im gettin a new one.. but i have to wait for it.. its on backorder at the moment.. the extra 30 is like heaven.. youll be in love the furst time you feel it..

cdq2125 - im not to interested in spending $7-10 whenever i want to change my rpm activation point.. these 'pills' are killing my wallet so i am going with the summit since it has ***** you can adjust.. yeah i didnt want to spend that much either for the digital.. a lil overkill to me..
freeway - just problems with turning the lower and filling in the old holes to retap the new ones.. first i tried jb weld.. didnt hold.. then i welded them.. it still works so far.. also had to rework my vacuum nipples and locations a lil.. not that big of a deal.. just small stuff..

cdq2125 - no i did it all myself.. i have a machine shop i can use here.. so that helped out a lot..

no if he is doing that to the old holes.. then that fills them.. and he tapps new ones for the 00VI from a template he has or something.. sounds like a deal..
hey tatanko.. has anyone ever gotten a check engine light with a transmission code after doing the swap?? oddly enough i have one.. i dont have a clue what it could be..

They're called threaded inserts. Couple of different ones out there that most knowledgable automotive machine shops can fill you in on (especially shops specializing in air cooled aluminum engine blocks). Much, much better than the old standby, Heli-Coils. Time-Sert is one tradename, and Steve uses a different but similar-in-concept brand. Google them.
Once you have a template for exactly where they need to go, and you have the right tools (machine-shop type), it's pretty easy to do. And if you want to make absolutely sure that you have it done right and don't have it coming back to bite you in the butt down the road a piece, what Steve does for the price he's charging is a real bargain

I was thinking about that shift fast mod, but since I changed my shifter I think it's pretty easy to shift it. I dont want to mess around with things too much yet. I'll def. check out how you do it tho. Maybe it'll spark my interest then.

i used the 4th gen rear valve cover.. cause i was too cheap to but a 5th gen one.. haha.. anyways.. what i did was went and bought an elbow that would fit where the original pcv valve goes.. and then ran an inline pcv.. no certain one in particular.. just one that had nipples the same size as the hose i was using to run from the valve cover to the UIM.. if that makes sense.. a little ghetto.. but it works.. actually me and my friend who helped with the swap like to call it 'custom' haha.. im using a 5th gen TB with a 4th gen IACV with an adapter plate.. so that i can connect the IACV to the UIM.. the same thing stephen max machines for everyone.. i made it myself in the machine shop at OU..

ceasars chariot - the thing i would like to see a diagram for is all the small hoses (1/4") that originally connect to the midpipe and so on.. how they hook up to everything afterwards.. also make sure you put your 4th gen tps on the new TB.. the 5th gen will work but will throw a code..

Yeah Pat should be taking some pics for me, more up close shots of hoses because thats the one part of the swap no one really explains. What hoses really hook up afterward. I need to pop the 4th gen tps on my pathy tb too.

do you have a pic or part# and make of that elbow you're using for the pcv? i think a lot of people on here would find that useful, as everywhere i've looked i haven't found an elbow that fits under the 00vi. and are there any leaks?

nice job man.. anything to help our slow *** trannies out.. i may have to look into this after you get finished.. i hate having to rely on my tranny ecu to decide which gear it needs to go into to.. itd be nice to think for it.. haha.. although is there anyway to do this without it 'always' being at full line pressure??
