3.5 intake cams in 3.0

ok guys i did a search yesterday and the only question that wasn't answered was if the 3.5 intake cams would be a gain over the stock dek intake cams. from what i read the exhaust cams in the dek are really good and don't need to be changed. from reading i also saw that the 3.5 cams work with a spacer and cam sprocket being modified to fit and keep it in time with the 3.0 timing. so i guess my question is, is there a gain to be had with the 3.5 intake cams in my dek? thanks for any info.

Definately, especially if you retard them somewhat.

Might as well get the eBay cams for a better price. Doubt we'll see any totaled L31's anytime soon, and getting the cams from dealer might sting a tad.. Plus tot ake full advantage of the new L31 cams, you'll need the VTC's as well.

true....hopefully within the next year they'll start showing up in junkyards...but regardless, don't the new VQ35 cams have already retarded timing and more lift/duration? They'd be a good option for those of us with full VQ35s if only they were cheaper...good option for the future.

Well StephenMax makes the adapter for those with the 3.0's lookeing to run the 3.5 cams without haveing to modify anything else or without haveing to drill the cams.

Just because you've been out for a while doesn't mean you have to go and post in every thread you see. This is the second time where it's obvious you haven't read any of the above posts aside from the immediate one.

Read this, catch yourself up and the latest developments, and have a coke while you're at it. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=506342

BTW, it is post # 4 in this thread.

I will have actualy dyno's of this come mid-march or so. If I get a chance I"ll run a baseline dyno before getting them installed.

That's not acceptable.. You should make every humanely possible effort to do so. Believe me, you'll regret it if you don't.

Thats true, so I can see where I am am and what I've gained. I guess I'll do a baseline before the E-U, then after E-U. Then after E-U and cam install. Just to get a good judgement of what the cams can do.

Doing just the intake cams would be a waste of time. If you're going to use VQ35 cams, use the whole set. All OE VQ35 cams > All OE VQ30 cams.

The advantage of going with stock 3.5 cams vs aftermarket is that they can be had much cheaper. I sold all 4 of my stock 3.5 cams for peanuts compared to what aftermarket cams go for.
