FULL 3.5 Swap questions about process and hardware

Now, for the 02/03 PS pump, the bolt that connects the hose to the actual pump is much bigger than the 4th gen bolt. Therefore, I cannot use the 4th gen hose with the 02/03 PS pump or the 4th gen bolt with the 02/03 PS pump. Should I just put on the 4th gen PS pump? How did you guys setup the PS?

Those rings look like they will overlap the counterbores for your bolt heads.
You went through the effort of having them profile cut. Why did you not make the ID larger and have them cut-in some tabs for welding to your spacer?

We will see how it turns out tomorrow, or Monday.
Now, for the ECTS, at least I think that's what it is referring to, first line on the green portion of the green and yellow spreadsheet, says SIGNAL NOT COMPATIBLE - WILL HAVE TO RETRO 98 SENSOR. What exactly am I supposed to do here? Is this the part? http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=560185 (In post #11)

Seems like I had some difficulty with the A33B motor mount brackets (rear one especially) on the engine, so I swapped in the A32 ones. Install went flawless, just wanted to note that. But I was doing this at 1 AM...on a parking lot. Oh well, as long as it is done.

People looking for a write-up are looking for an easy button, IMO. A write-up won't make it any easier because what needs to be done depends on the year of the car; and in a few cases, its options. Either way you will have to dig through the FSM's to confirm where and how to make the connections.
Maybe there could be a beginner's guide to what needs to be purchased/acquired and an overview of some of the necessary connections... but the nitty-gritty of the wiring portion should be discussed with someone who knows what to do if one has NO idea where to begin.

ever since, I've been back and forth to the dealership and i did find out that the cps from the a33 3.5 (side) is in a different position than the a34 3.5 (bottom) the part numbers on the cps' are obviously different between the models but they are the same on each model with the 6spd and auto. my only option (i assume) is to have the spacer made with the ring that came with the motor...after i grind it off the drive plate. =(

On the ring spacer weldment, the total width (timing ring with the spacer) is .491", just wondering would it be alright if mine was off by .030". The one I had is .462". If this is not good, and I'm assuming it is not because the sensor would not be correctly aligned with the timing ring, I will just put washers under the spacer to even out the difference. What do you think?

sorry for the super late response (computer issues) but. the timing ring i measured at 11 3/8 is the one that came off of the motor i purchased (a34 at)

The A33B and A34 6MT flywheels are the same.
Therefore, use the 11-7/8" timing ring and a CPS from an A34 6MT (or 4AT) 23731-8J106

Mine measured in at about 3 mm

How will my fuel system be setup? I have a Walbro 190 ready to go in, and a sx performance AFPR(if necessary).
For the alternator and starter, will I be using the '98 harnesses that are on the body already(engine room harness)?

As for recharging the AC system, do I have to get it professionally done, or can I just pick a bottle of this up and do it myself?

Standard practice is to evacuate the system before recharging to remove any moisture and other contaminants that may have entered while it was open.
Why did you disconnect the lines from the compressor to begin with?
#145
To be honest, I didn't realize what I was unbolting until I disconnected everything.

The A33B uses a sensor. (output varying with pressure)
IIRC it just bumps up engine rpm to compensate for the added pumping load if you are turning the wheels when the vehicle is not moving. It is not unlike one of the functions of the A/C pressure sensor.
If you do not mind the code, just leave the connector empty.
Otherwise you will have to get a hold of an appropriate sensor.

Now, for the Coolant log, will I be using the 02/03 or the '98? It seems like neither of the stock hoses(02/03 vs 98) that go from the coolant log to the radiator are the right size. Will using the '98 coolant log fix this problem as it seems that it sits a bit lower? Or can I just go to the Auto Parts store and ask for some Coolant lines and I can cut it to fit?

And what am I doing about the oxygen sensors? The cattman headers I bought have only 1 bung on each, but the stock exhaust manifolds I pulled off have one before and after the precat... Where can I place simulators? Educate me please.

Sim the downstreams, they're useless (don't make me, Nmex...)

I prefer not to be spoon fed, because I am willing to learn in case anything should happen, it would be easier to diagnose the issue with more knowledge, but in some cases, I think a quick explaination wouldn't hurt? (Thanks pmohr) I searched O2 simulators earlier in the week, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I couldn't relate others experiences to mine(although I know you're thinking wtf, since we all have the same cars...), so I only wanted a more directly specified answer. Big thanks go out to everyone that has communicated with me regarding this swap. I think the big hurdle is now done and I'm finally assembling the final pieces to the project. The maxima should be running before the weekend, if weather permits. (no garage)

The A32 uses a switch. (output is on or off)

I still do not understand what to do about the second part though.
BTW, I am using the 02/03 Coolant log.

The A32 a/c auto amp can't do anything with the signal from the ECTS itself. The coolant temp sending unit (what sends the signal to the gauge in A32's) needs to be retained for certain functions to work.

I've put the dash back in and plugged the A33B guage cluster in. All the lights turned on as I turned the ignition to ON. I still have all of the dash switches disconnected, but the variable windshield wiper option does not work at all on any of the settings. Normal and High speed wiper options work fine.
Question about the ignition switch thing(not sure exactly what it is called): There is a 2 pin connector, the A32 has a female connector and the A33B has a male connector. Obviously, they don't plug together(as in the A33B connector does not plug into the wiring on the A32 chassis because it would be male to male connector), do I have to cut and adapt the connectors? Does anyone know what this connector is for? or the name of the component?

Cattman exhaust is on. Axles are in. Wiring is complete.
I only have to finish fabricating custom mounting brackets for the 03 guage cluster. There's like 5-10 min of finishing the interior... nice.
