Question for the motor guys

BLUE- VQ30DE, USIM, Stock internals
RED- VQ35DE, SSIM, Stock internals with cam timing set to StephenMax's "standard timing position"
GREEN- Same as above, 9psi turbo (injectors Maxing out soon there after, thats the dip in power, dont ask about it, thats for PM or my dyno thread, thank j00 )

2 different manifolds, 2 different cam timings.

How relevant or irrelevant is it that they both have HP and TQ curves intercepting at the exact same RPM? I noticed lookin at Panda_1's runfiles (he has an 00 5th gen with DEK and 00VI of course), and his intercepts at the same point. I also looked at a friend's 2002 VQ35De dyno, stock VI functional, also the same intercept.

What determines this crossover point? Does it really matter?

If one makes a change that moves it to the right, would that imply then that the power curve has moved that way as well, and that it will hold more power at the high rpm? Doing SSIM moves the powerband over to the right, yet obviously it doesnt change this x-over point. So, whats up with it?

Sorry for the redundant somewhat open ended questions. Im just curious as to how these different setups with very different powerbands can all have the same x-over points. Of course, Im not even sure if this detail of info is important! but Since no one ever talks about it here, I figured I'd bring it up.

The formula for deriving HP from TQ is (RPM x torque)/5252. The crossover will always be at 5252 RPM based on that.

Given that both axis are the same scale, graphically.

But the actual values (data, no graph) will always be equal at that point because of what he said.

tq and hp always cross on a dyno sheet at 5252 its mathematically impossible to have any other result unless the tq equation gets changed!

the more hp at a given rpm = the more tq at that given rpm

if you make;
100whp@1000rpm it means ur making 100whp * 5252 / 1000 = 525.2wtq
500whp@5252rpm it means ur making 500whp * 5252 / 5252 = 500wtq

its actually really simple! just used as a measurement of power at a given rpm!

Not if the hp & tq scales are different.

Be like Mike and don't talk down, but make 'em feel worse by explaining play by play why they're wrong and tossing in some grammar to it.
