In another thread I was suggesting wiring the A34 ECU as a piggyback similar to the UTEC thereby leaving the stock ECU alone to function normally. Just tap and splice all required wires (about 30). I'm only concerned about the cut wires dangling off the stock ECU, but I think some resistors on them will keep reflection from frying anything.

I am really willing to do this now. I'm so goddamn tired of this POS stock ECU. My car is SLOW and I have full bolt-ons minus cams!

I hate to add more to this, but what makes you think the A34 ECU is any better, in your context of using it and only it as a piggyback (no other tuning items)? It be advantageous to 'covert' to the A34 ECU just because there are more tuning choices. (i.e. UTE, eetc straight 'bolt on', no wiring nec.)

Myself and another 6th gen member have compared timing and cam timing logs, and they're identical (timing/cam timing). A cheap or expensive piggy back can be used to control fuel of course, and then they'd be identical.

That's what I'm talking about. I'd use osiris with it.

Although, I forgot the part about removing security. That's not a cheap flash.

You know what sucks about today? This crappy excruciating heat and humidity!

I was excited to tweak this puppy, but we're gonna have to final tune it on a much cooler day. (whenever that happens)

She is tuned much better than ever before though off the road, so it's the fastest it's ever ran. I'm hoping to go to the track Wed evening, so I'll see what happens there. Nothing else to report at this time.

Got dyno graphs? Are you still planning to compare intake manifolds?

I believe redline has been bumped to 7500 rpms. I break the tires in the 1st 3 gears.

I don't have any dyno graphs. Have a couple things to look into before a final dyno tune. I took the manifolds with me, but there was no point in dynoing those at the time, since I still haven't dialed in what I've got on there now. I am still planning on doing a comparison of these, however.

Cool. I honestly don't care about the numbers, as every dyno is going to read different. I just want to see how the curve looks with your mods, and see how it does at the track with a 0-500ish DA!

The tuning was not numbers based. There's areas in the air/fuel that wouldn't accept the fuel corrections or return curves that were all over the place, and there are issues with it knocking still in some areas in the rpm range when modifying the timing maps. I'm pulling 3 codes at the moment, and are thinking that this maybe what's causing the issues. One main one is the Cam Timing Advanced code, which because we can't change that, we're trying to figure out what the issue might be. We also couldn't tune on 93 Octane for the life of us to get a clean map. I'm currently running on E85 tune at the moment, which is actually running much better. I don't want to solely stick with that map however, and I need to draw a map for Premium but I can't until I get these codes figured out. Also, not sure if the E85 is flowing enough fuel using the Maxima fuel system is why it's not accepting the fuel corrections well, even though I'm switched out to the 380cc's. I don't have the Walboro 255 installed either since, the one I have didn't come with a strainer and I have to get one.

There's too many variables that we had to deal with in the short time span we had on the dyno to worry at that point about numbers. I will try again as soon as this is all worked out.

I think you need about 25% more fuel when running e85 to make the same power with 93octane but don't quote me. So going by that its safe to say on e85 and at your current power level you should be or very close to maxing out a stock pump on 93octane gas let only e85

This is a huge misconception with E85, running E85 on a fuel system not originally designed for ethanol isnt going to do anything. TONs of people are running E85 on older fuel systems and I have never heard of anyone having any problems with it "eating" away at parts. Maybe after 100K+ miles and YEARs of driving will you notice something, and even then I doubt it.

I think you need about 25% more fuel when running e85 to make the same power with 93octane but don't quote me.
Its baout 30% more fuel needed to make the same power, but its also a lot cheaper then 93 octane and a lot higher octane at about 104-106 octane.

p0011 or p0021??? .....man im having the same issue. the first time it happend to me because my timing chain skipped a tooth because the timing chain tensioners were bad. the second time it happend was because i had a bad cam sensor. if i was u i check the vtc solenoids and cam sensors first. if those are good then your going to have to take off the timing cover and make sure the timing chain didnt skip...... It's been confirmed that whatever is going on with the car has put a wrench in the performance. Great launches......great shifts......full interior+sub (issue).......19" Volks (issue).........210+ coolant temps (issue).......hot as sin even at 8pm (issue).......14.008 @ 102......effin horrible! Got to run twice, and that was the best of the 2. I know everyone's hung on numbers at this point, but it's not my main focus at this time. I just need this thing to run flawlessly.

I'm really leaning towards pulling the timing chain cover and double checking to make sure the timing is still lined up on this thing. We're going to look at one more thing before we do that though. I've swapped over fairly new cam shaft position sensors in both heads, and I'm still pulling the cam over advancing code. Now I've got a misfire code and an o2 code, which might or might not be related. The o2 code is probably from the fuel mixture since it's tune to 100% E85 at the moment, but it might not like that gas.

The issues pertaining to fuel corrections is just that. No matter how much we add or take away fuel, the changes don't "seem" like it's sticking and/or getting mixed results on the same corrections, tuning on 93 Octane was worse (we blamed the heat). The curves in the same spots didn't look like they were changing much if any, like the Utec wasn't doing it's job. I'm not sure what's going on with this thing at the moment. I just know it's getting a little irritating, and I hate the Utec and the BS that comes with it. I'm ready to dump more cash and switch to another fuel management system. Utec provides minimal support, and their interface is outdated for what I need. Sure if I only had all the boltons, and just wanted to make "simple" fuel corrections, I think this would pull out all the hidden power. It just seems to be a very finicky unit to use, and the communication between that and the tuner bugs the hell outta me.

These issues were warned to me when I started this build, and it takes time to get them right, so I knew this walking in. I'm just rambling at this point. I know it'll all get ironed out at the end. I'm just need to learn to not be so impatient I guess.

Thats crazy another memeber on another maxima forum is having the same issue with his Utec. He said he was going to try switching to a 350Z MAF.

My UTEC fuel correction sucks too! I will spend hours tuning the AFR perfectly at 13.0. Then a month or two later, I find my AFR will be 11.5 in some areas of the map and 13.5 in another area. I've been having this problem constantly since the first day I installed my first UTEC. I have tried over 3 different UTECs too. So I have to tune my fuel every month or so if I want to keep it reasonable.

The only good thing about this system is that when you tell it to run a certain ignition timing, it runs it!

This is the same issue alot of the Z and G guys have and one of the reasons I sold mine before I installed it. I had a friend that lost his $600 tune out of the blue on his G and that was enough for me.

Even though the AFR is completely screwed up now, I don't feel like it was a complete waste since I now know exactly what ignition timing is best for my engine with a smooth 12.8-13.0 AFR. So now, I just do a few street pulls in 2nd gear and get it back to normal before a heads up drag event.

I would love to be able to get the Osiris working with a Z33 ECU. It will happen soon.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this issue, not to say that I'm happy about that fact for myself or others. It just takes away alot of doubt that something we were doing was not correct.

I highly second the Osiris option!
