man, i know alot of sc people will hate, but i would say a (basic) sc 3.0 w 8-9 psi would get put to shame w a cam'd 3.5 (both 4th gens and tuned 1/4mile) , even at 11 psi it may be a top end catch-up run for the sc'd 3.0.

in for some tuned na 1/4 times (:

i dont have cam's or headers, but if i did id guess around the 270-275 whp/tq range and without needing to wait for redline for full boost, in the track, im sure thats a solid 12.3-12.6 na 4.5, and a 3.0 sc will be around there too.. but Cardana can post some of his 3.0 times at the track ... im not talking about 50 mph - 130 mph highway pulls

you can run Cardana though..

I have 30 more miles on my break in so I should be done with that today Then I will start data logging and making some adjustments. I am going to hit the dyno once I get it close, and then I will be at the track soon after that. I will probably run at MIR/Richmond Dragway/Dinwiddie. I still need to get some tires though. It's really a tease having to stay below 4k because that is where the car really comes alive.

I never had a clean run at the track with my 3.0 supercharged set up. I ran a 13.1 @ 107/8 at Maxus 09, and then I got kicked off for leaking transmission oil. That was with a 2.3 60'. So I could have gone high 12's easy with that set up. It's hard to compare the two at this point because the supercharger really moved up top. I am not going to guess what kind of power I am making until I go to the dyno.

Break in is over She moves I glanced over around 6k and I was running around 11 to 1, so there is still room for improvement. I will make some adjustments after I datalog some then i am off to the dyno in a few weeks.

As for tunning, is there a problem tunning based on 2 gear pulls? I am not willing to run to the top of 3rd much less 4th close to where I live. Should I even spend time doing that or should I just head straight to the dyno?

the issue i see with 2nd gear pulls is, wont you lose traction? and wont that make it hard?

2nd gear is a no no , you should be loosing traction and the motor isnt loaded the same. you will feel the difference as you take it upto 12.8s, this is were I have seen the best results. I would recommend logging afrs if your wband has that option, and making 3rd gear pulls, have it tunned to 12.8s once you get on the dyno, then try leaning it out a bit more and seeing if you get positive results, if not bring it back down to the corrections you were already at. get on a highway and take the risk, i did it on a 66, a few pulls a night till it was almost perfect.

so how it feel compared to the 3.0

I did a few 2nd gear pulls from 5-72k to get the a/f pretty close then jumped on the highway at around 2am and finished up with 3rd gear pulls everything below 5k was done in 4th.

btw, I made my a/f slightly richer from 65-72k just to be safe

That's true too. When I did go WOT yesterday I was just easing into it.

I daily drive a modded VE and it feels much faster than that. My DE set up was supercharged for so long its hard to compare. It also feels faster than my old 95 maxima which I ran a 13.8 in....so we will see.

I think I am going to try to get it close in 2nd, then go rent the dyno for an hour. There are no highways/interstates close to me, and by the time I drive out to one I am half way to the dyno that I use.

Not much to update. I lowered the car a little bit more and got it aligned.

I still plan on going to the dyno in the next few weeks, but I still have not made any corrections via my VAFCII. It has been raining like crazy here the past few days so I have not been driving the car. Hopefully I can datalog a little in the next few days, I have all of my WBO2 stuff wired up in the car, and I have installed the software on the laptop but I have not hooked it up in the car yet. Hopefully I will have more to tell soon.

recommend a wideband full time on the car, i was not planning to, but a month after i dyno'd and was street tuned to 12.8s, i got on the car recently and was at 11.9s accross the board, not sure if it was climate, or whatever, i dropped 10 psi in fuel pressure and got it back up to 12.7s ...wouldnt have never noticed without the wideband bc the car still felt great

I have the Innovate LC-1 set up in the car, with the gauge, so I can see the a/f any time I look over. I am just talking about actually hooking the laptop up to the WB02 setup.

So I thought I was ready to datalog but it looks like I am not. Are any of you guys using an Innovate LC-1 set up? That's what I have and they are telling me that I need an AuxBox in order to be able to recorded rpm and other parameters. What are you guys doing? The AuxBox is $250.

I have a LC-1, but it's hooked directly to my Emanage Ultimate. I know LogWorks3 has a record function, but without another input (or inputs) to reference the AFR to, it's kind of useless. To do logging for the purpose of AFR corrections, you really need something that will pull together multiple parameters which is what the AuxBox seems to do. I would say that you need something like the AuxBox or an EU to get some logs that you can use to tune you car.

There is an EU for sale right now here, though I am not certain of what hooking it up to a 4.5 gen would entail. I would think it would definitely be doable especially since you kept the 4th gen ECU. I figure if you are going to spend some more money, you might was well go that route and reap the benefits of the added features (it is a nice piece of equipment). Of course buying a used EU has its risks which you would have to gauge by talking to the seller.

You could also try to use your WBO2 gauge and make adjustments that way, reading it in real time and not logging at all. However, you would probably need another person to help you unless you were on a dyno. Because this method involves buying nothing, it might be worth a try.

Yeah, you are telling me exactly what the guy from Innovate said. For some reason when I was going into this I was thinking that the LC-1 had a way to pick up the RPM siginal without any other hardware...I was wrong.

I am thinking for the time being I may just make all of my adjustments on the dyno, then before I boost the engine again, I will pick something up that will allow me to log a/f with respect to rpm.

it definitely does suck at first trying to determine what rpm you were at after 3 seconds of recording, etc, but its not too bad once youve gotten used to it. someone here once suggested createing a spike at a certain rpm and using that as the template when u log AFR.

Or you could just put the a/f gauge next to rpm gauge and have someone record it with a cell phone while doing a pull

what did it put down / run?? im sure you could get the tune in there without the rpm reference just by toying with it and getting used to it. I tuned my car and stillenmaxs at 7 psi with a safc2 just by doing steady 2500-6500 rpm pulls and using the logworks, you dont have the exact rpm refernce but you get a feel for where youre at.

So since your setup is so close to Meximax and 96sleeper I figured I'd post this link so you can avoid this issue before you install the S/C'er.
