00VI, To do or not to do.
#42
I was doing some searching on how high I could manually shift my automatic, when I found that the factory rev limiter is 6500 rpm. I knew I saw higher than that on the tach since doing my 00VI swap.
I took a drive to find it, it appears my rev limiter is right about 6750-6800 rpm per the tach. I guess that also mean the 4800rpm tach set point is probably just above 4500 rpm or a few hundred RPM lower than I would like. I will have to change that. At some point I may have to look into the Suprastick.

I had initially assumed the Tach was correct.
My 91 GMC truck's tach is dead on at WOT (some of the other gauges are way off) per the datalogger, so I assume if GM could get the tach right, Nissan would.
An off the subject story about an inaccurate gauges. I had a 85 Toyota Supra as a Daily Driver and my toy car was a 86 Corvette with some mods. I did some mods to my Supra and brought it to the track. I spuna little on the launch but I was so excited after going through the traps after my first run because my speedo was at 98-99 mph at finish lines. I was thinking 'Damn this thing is faster than it felt, it almost as fast as my Corvette' which running high 13's @ 100mph. I got the slip and I ran something like a 15.4 @ 91 mph I knew it wasn't that fast, but the inaccurate speedo got my hopes up for a few seconds.

My tach in my '95 was damn near dead on, my 03's tach ... not a chance. It's seems to be proportional to the RPM, but @ a tach indicated 7500 RPM, it was verified w/ a logger @ ~7100 RPM.
