good day Gentlemen .

I am from Saudi Arabia and I have 1999 turbo nissan maxima with VQ3.0DE with JWT cams and CP pistons + ARP bolts

I have read your file about VQ35HR head gasket . and I have some questions for .

can I use VQ35HR head gasket on my VQ3.0DE with the same modifications that was writtin in your file ?

what the 0.1mm thick fire ring in the HR head gasket ? and what is the purpose of it ?

why is it at the top of the sleevs only ? I think this will make unbalance contact between the heads and the block .

which is better for my engine ? HR head gasket or cometic head gasket ?

I can get HR head gasket from any nissan stor in 1 hour but cometic gasket will take 3 weeks to arrive here

welling to get the answer as soon as possiple whaile the heads still not installed yet .

the answer .

Hi M.J.,
I checked with our engineers about your head gasket questions. If you do the block modification outlined on our information sheet, you can use the HR head gaskets which are a 2.5 ply gasket. This gasket type with this firing ring design, distributes the load better and with this better clamping load this is why this gasket works so well. So we recommend using the factory HR head gasket with the block modification and also recommend using new factory HR head bolts each time you remove the heads. These need to be torqued per the HR head bolt torque procedure.

Interesting. The 3.5 head is for larger cylinders (2.5mm extra bore), wonder if this adds any complications. I know the 3.5HR fits on the 3.5DE without problems.

I will do it soon

Lol, I told you in that thread I used them on a 3.0 like 2 years ago. It does leave a little gap from the smaller bore but it doesn't affect anything. If anyone does it on a de-k you'll want to get rid of the secondary thermostat.
