5mt transmission swap for Teana
Hi all!
I have original Right-hand drive Nissan Teana, made in 2003 with VQ35DE and mCVT transmission Yesterday transmission suddenly was broke and now I want to swap Teana from mCVT to Manual transmission. Perfect for me is 5spd transmission All day I read forum, local bulletin board, and look for variants. In BB I was found only 5spd non-lsd transimission from Nissan Maxima A32 with 3.0 VQ30DE https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....00d98445d5.jpg And this pic of my mCVT transmission https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....a03d5d1352.jpg Looking by photo, it have the same mounting I think, it's not problem to found clutch, pedal and other mechanical parts, but I don't know what ECU I need fo IT. Will I buy ECU from the same car (Maxima A32, VQ30de, 5MT) and install it or I need to find something other? Teana have Electronic throttle control |
You should use a 6 speed manual. The gearing in the 5 speed is not so good. You can pretty much drive the 5speed in 5th all day. Only sucks on the highway, you''ll be looking to shift up all day when cruising and you cant.

If you have a VQ35 to start with - then use a 6 speed transmission.
Gearing aside, there are differences in the flywheel and flywheel signal plate between the 3.0/5mt and the 3.5/6mt setups among many other sensor and setup changes (like the e throttle you mentioned) so you can't just install a 3.0 ECU on a 3.5. A 6 speed is going to be the way to go for you. |
Hi, sorry to be intrusive...I just found this thread and interested! I have also a Nissan Teana J32, it's a 2012... engine for our market here in Thailand it's a VQ25DE with CVT JF011E... would it be possible to swap it with a manual transmission?? any idea which trans model will fit to the engine?
Thank you thousands for attention... Regards Alex |
