Oil in intake/ smokes on right turns
Hello friends, need to pick some brains, we bought this 2012 maxima sport 3.5 for my son, test drove it everything seemed ok.
A day or 2 later he bought some oil 5w-30 non synthetic penzoil and had a shop change it. Now smokes on right turns only. I cant remember if we made any right turns test driving it, or if just started after the oil change. Took to local shop, they did a block test and said it was negative.
Change pcv, no help, changed oil again to max life synthetic blend 5w-30, added a catch can and changed plugs, still no help. Pulled the intake and it had quite a bit of oil. Pulled valve cover on the firewall side, it had some sludge for only 103k miles. Cleaned the head put back together still smokes on right turns, and I mean smoke, like a train! Like one of those mosquito repellent trucks.
I’m stumped now. Blow by? Valve seals? Is there another pcv valve or stopped up hose? Thanks for your input!

Hmm, had they replaced the valve covers right before they sold it to you? I just finished installing new valve covers twice. The first set of Apex covers smoked at startup and were dumping tons of oil into the intake. My understanding on this is that the oil somehow gets around the baffles in the valve covers and gets sucked into the intake via the PVC. I guess a turn a certain way may allow the oil to flow towards a defect. I replaced the Apex covers with OEM Nissan and no more smoke. 120 bucks down the drain for the bad ones. That and two weekends spent doing the job twice.

I have the same problem
I want to find out if anyone has solved this problem. My car a 14 maxima does the same exact thing, and I've done the PCV Valve and oil change with no improvement. Happen only on right turns, smoke huge billows or smoke

ok....for anyone that has had this problem ,I've figured it out . The rear valve cover gets plugged up,and then oil goes directly into the intake plenum .bought a new valve cover, cleaned the intake and no smoke at all.
