What exactly do tweeters do?

I blew my right front speaker, the tweeters are fine, but I have to upgrade. What are the advantages of upgrading the tweeters as well as the speakers. I am tight on cash and can get a decent component system or just a really nice set of speakers, what do you think??

The advantage is it will sound better.

With say an Infinity Reference Component, or stock tweeters and Alpine Type R speakers???

If your gonna start replacing, replace everything. Forget the stock...A good set of speakers start around 250 retail.

GrkMchn 04-20-2003 11:45 PM

right, but I don't want to spend too much money ie 100 or under

Then theres no point in touching anything. Invest some real money or you will regret it...and it is worth it.

I blew my right speaker so I kind of have to touch it :)

Then I say find a way to spend some money. If you buy 100 doller crap speakers now to fill in, you spend another 300 later, thats 400, just cough it up now. sorry :) Cheaper to do it right the first time.

I know that. If it where somthing very high level i'd tell you to drop over 800. :)

Well basically my question was what exactly would be better replacing the tweeters as well as the speakers with an okay system, or just replacing the speakers with a better system

A tweeter is a speaker, and the door speaker is refered to as a mid ;)

The answer is replace it all. The cheapest route is probley going to be to get just the one factory mid replaced.

Other than that I stay by my statement of replacing all speakers.

You don't need to spend $250 to have something sound good it all depends on if you're going to change the head unit and maybe add an amp. Don't go to best buy or circuit city to get speakers, if you shop online and spend $100 you can get a good set of speakers. Get some audiobahns, they're cheap in price and they sound great. My friend just spent $70 on some audiobahns that he got from ebay and they sound awesome
