cd-r's not working correctly in bose headunit

just recently, my burnt cd's have not beeen reading correctly in my max with the bose. i have heard from people that the headunit cannot be changed to an aftermarket without replacing all the speakers. but i have heard from others that it is possible to change it because there is an adapter that i can use. can anyone tell me which is true? i tried search but couldnt find anything to help me... any info on this would really be appreciated.

Did your burnt CD's work previously ? I know that I can't use cd's burnt with windows XP in my car stereo or my xbox.
YOu can use a different receiver with the stock speakers but you need to get an adapter to make it work. Any audio fitting electronics place will be able to do it for you.

its old school but try converting the mp3's to wav then burn, just go on www.download.com and search wav converter

If they worked before but now they don't and you haven't changed the software you use to make them, try cleaning the head unit with a CD cleaner. Obviously the discs you burn at home aren't as high quality as the audio CD's you can buy, and I know from experience that some players can get *****y about them. Much cheaper to clean it first than to change head unit. Also, I'm assuming you haven't changed brands of CD-R's? Some brands don't work in some players. I have Imations I use for data and Sony CD-R's for music, I've never had a player reject a Sony disc.

nothing to it they make an adapter it was around 40 dollars when i bought one. go to any aftermarket stereo place and they can look it up andorder it for you or they may have it in stock.

try cd-rw and what are you using, i wouldnt doubt it if you are having trouble with any kind of windows media player. get nero !!!

Honestly, when it comes down to it the Bose Headunit blows. One little problem will grow into a big problem when it totally craps out on you. Most people go with an aftermarket HU.

If you're interested, I have a Sony Xplod M-620 for sale. Let me know.

does anyone know if i will keep the same sound quality from the bose speakers if i get an aftermarket HU? i heard that the bose system only works together... can anyone help?

You can keep the same sound quality if you buy an adapter. I bought a Scosche adapter from www.crutchfield.com and now I think my Bose actually sounds better because I have a real EQ to use.
