6.5's won't fit

i just bought some pioneer 6.5s to put in my front speakers but they wont align in with the original screw holes. am i supposed to glue them on or drill new holes? thanks

the right speaker size is supposed to be 6 3/4...correct me if im wrong, but according to crutchfield, thats what it is.

Correct you are, if you want 6.5's you'll have to have a special install. Otherwise you're limited to only 6 3/4 or 6.75 (sometimes referred to on eBay). Sorry =[

this whole time i was led to believe that they were 6.5s. i think i can try to glue them on...

There are adapter brackets that can be purchased. Gluing speakers just scares me.

i manage to fit 6.5 pioneers in the front. it was a tight fit but i got all 4 screws in and it's still holding up. try just finger tighten in the screws first then tighten alittle at a time and take turns on all the screws.

Can you return them for 6 3/4's? Surely the warranty can't be up? Your safest bet would be to do that, but if your at a last resort, I'd say they'll be okay >.<

If you can return them and get the right size., if not make sure that you seal all the air space around the edges, and the original speaker housing/ if you dont, your speakers bass will suck, and you will get fluttering distortion noise.

I had this happen to me when some crappy audio store replaced my speaks in my 3rd gen. If you live in Maryland, DO NOT GO to Auto Radio Center. They are halfazzed biotches.

its 6.5"
you might need the speaker brackets, did they come with them? they are a little ring that has a bunch of holes around the sides.

I have 6.5's in the front. They fit ok :gotme:

95BLKMAX 05-25-2004 07:21 AM

SOME 6 1/2" speakers come with the oversized ring already installed in them, that's why some of you are saying that you have 6.5" in the front and no problem. But some speakers come with their regular 6.5" ring and those are the ones that would need an aditional ring to fit the 6 3/4" opening. That's why in Crutchfiled you see that some speakers say they are 6 1/2", while others say 6 /12"-6 3/4".

I have some 6.5 CDT's with a one inch spacer and they fit fine in the front.

thanks guys, i managed to fit my 6.5s in the holes. i screwed the screws in from different angles so that it would fit.
