Installed new HU... now can't control sub volume?
Previously, I had an old Blaupunkt receiver. I also have a Basslink with the remote level control knob. All was fine with the Blaupunkt- I could use the knob to change the volume of the subwoofer as I pleased.
Yesterday I got a Panasonic C5410 or whatever it's called, and installed it myself (as I did with the other HU and Basslink). Now, however, the knob doesn't control the sub volume. If I turn it ALL the way down, the subwoofer cuts out, so I know the connection is fine. If I turn it up a tiny bit or all the way up, the subwoofer volume remains the same. The HU can control the sub volume, but it tends to be too loud and I'd rather have the knob immediately accessible than have to go through a bunch of menus to change the levels. The knob should function in addition to the receiver anyway. Any ideas? This new receiver has 2 pairs of pre-amp outputs (front/rear) and 1 pair of sub-outs. I've tried both, with no change in performance. This is driving me crazy. I can't see how it could be related to the new HU, as the volume knob is directly connected to the sub. Do I have to plug the old HU in to test it? I should also mention that I can change the volume with the built-in knob on the subwoofer just fine, so there's nothing wrong with the sub's volume control. Thanks in advance! |
do you have them hooked up to the subout?
|
Yeah, It has to be something in the either the wiring for the sub (RCA sub out from HU to the Basslink) or in the setup setting of the HU
|
Yeah, the Basslink is plugged into the sub-out jack on the HU. There aren't any settings for the sub on the HU other than low-pass filter and sub volume.
:gotme: |
what is the sub volume on the HU set to? I would think you would want to set it high enough so that you can use the basslink volume control to adjust the volume
|
When the sub-out volume is set to 0dB on the HU, it is VERY loud and the knob doesn't do anything (as described above). I can set it to +-6dB, but that doesn't change the behavior of the Basslink knob. Argh!
