3rd gen help! 6x9's won't fit
I have already hooked up my amp and i removed the rear speakers(BOSE) and when i lined up my new 6x9's they will not fit. there is something blocking them but i can't see it. I took the black casing that held the speaker/amp off, and was wondering if i could bolt the new speakers to the rear deck with out using the factory housing.
I know it is long, but thnx in advance Holla! |
the stock 6x9s should have unbolted from the bottom...not through the top. :gotme:
they did unbolt from the bottom
what kind of 6x9's do you have? I put sony explodes in place of my stock speakers and I ran into the same problem. If your 6x9 has 2 or 3 tweeters on a type of pedestal then that is probably what is in the way. If you look at the hole that is there for the stock speaker it is not really a 6inch by 9 inch hole...its smaller and I think thas where you are running into problems
all else fails do what i did, remove the bose thing and make your own holes, works great, IMO
Are you sure your not just hitting the trunk tension bars?
i'd agree with pearl, both max's i've put 6x9's in the trunk bar was in the way, you might have to move that bar a bit
The hole at the top of the parcel shelf is only 6 inches. You have to cut the shelf to make 6x9s fit from the top. The stock mounts you took out and designed to clear the tension rods.
All you need to do is put back the black Bose speaker bracket and install the speakers from the bottom. It only takes about 10 minutes. Otherwise, you need to figure this sheit out on your own. Trial and error style. |
I am installing them from the bottom, the problem was the four black bolt covers were hitting the lip of my speakers so i took a hammer to them, smoothed the rough edges and made em' work.
