Bass owned me last night, or did Nissan own me?

so i was at a SOFL mini meet playing trillville-get some crunk in yo system and...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/DSC02989.jpg

the mirror showed no signs of stress prior to this occuring...any chance Nissan will warranty this under powertrain? :) what are my options on this thing...can i fix it, or will i have to search junkyards until i find a new one? and no, i refuse to lower the bass.

edit: thanks Mike (E55AMG2) for the pix, and thanks to Gordon for hosting the pix.

and another...

AscendantMax 06-04-2005 10:24 PM

don't lower the bass, lower the volume :p

i'd check local junkyards and see what you can find.

memphis_sktr 06-04-2005 10:25 PM

Holy shyt!!!!!!!!!!! That is funny. But I don't know about the whole insurance thing though. Sorry.

slickrick 06-04-2005 10:27 PM

it was a joke because one, a mirror has nothing to do with powertrain, and 2, nissan would laugh at the reason i broke it and tell me to shove it. :(

AscendantMax 06-04-2005 10:35 PM

bass is rather destructive ain't it :D

Batxel 06-05-2005 01:21 AM

I always wondered if something like that would happen. I think my mirror moves more than my subs do.

joebangaa 06-05-2005 01:56 AM

^^ lol mine does

I've seen a system LITERALY tear apart a Jimmy. It was funny as hell, everyday my friend came into the vo-tech, something new was broken. It even broke part of his body paneling

Scope 06-05-2005 08:23 AM

Ain't nothin a little JB Weld can't fix. I finally set off an alarm yesterday with my 10's. First time driving with my windows down since I had the subs also.

kcidmil 06-05-2005 08:29 AM

ohh, I'll be getting pics tomorrow of my new setup. The box is pretty much built, they're working on a vent cover, then they'll cover the box with vinyl. Hopefully I can get a pic before they do that.

They're also trying to still wire my remote start/alarm in. It'll still be awhile. They only had 1 sub left, so they had to order some more. And they still have the dynamat and amp rack to do.

I talked with the guy working on my box a little while yesterday. We came up with a nice setup for the amps later on. Should look really tight.

seventy5impala 06-05-2005 09:33 AM

lol thats pretty good.... id check ebay too, there was a guy parting out basicly a whole maxima on there. got a master control window switch off him.... but yea damn bass, i keep gettin rained on by CDs from my pos visor holder...scare the crap out of me when they hit me ...

AscendantMax 06-05-2005 09:48 AM

epoxy that mirror back together ;)

slickrick 06-05-2005 10:52 AM

so epoxy or jb weld? remember i have no skills when it comes to putting crap together.

AscendantMax 06-05-2005 11:15 AM

jb weld dries into this gray color, so it might not match the color of the mirror. but jb weld hardens pretty damn solid!

so yor the one who took that. i needed it too, lol.

rkyat 06-05-2005 05:07 PM

same thing happened to my friend with his 02. He hot-glued it back on, and this time the mirror broke off again, BUT this time taking a piece of windsheild down with it.

slickrick 06-05-2005 05:09 PM

wow ill pass on the hot glue. did he just glue the whole piece with hot glue onto the windshield???

Black Maxima 06-05-2005 05:35 PM

Now imagine what the internals of your head look like after the bass...HAHAHA

my99maxisnice 06-05-2005 05:42 PM

Don't worry, he isn't working with much anyways.

slickrick 06-05-2005 05:44 PM

nope...because im dumb enough to play it that loud. :)

:snap: :sprint:

AscendantMax 06-05-2005 05:57 PM

hot glue? the heat prolly did something to the glass to weaken it :gotme:

generation3 06-05-2005 06:43 PM

Thats happened to a friend of mine he has a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue with 4 10w0s. He tried to use a repair kit from autozone and that didn't work so don't try that. I was worried it would happen to my car but for some reason my mirrors don't shake a whole lot and I got two L5s and a JL 500/1 for each. Are the 3rd gens mirrors just really good? I have a friend whos got a civic and all the mirrors rattle with his crappy system. He gives me crap about my mirrors not shaking but he drives a civic and is a dumbass.

AscendantMax 06-05-2005 06:49 PM

your bass is not loud enough ;) i have a 3rd gen too, and my mirror is useless above volume 16 (kenwood deck).

but yeah, i think having the mirror mounted on the roof like ours, versus slick's mirror that's mounted on the windshield plays a role on how much it vibrates.

Black Maxima 06-05-2005 07:03 PM

My 4th Gen is on the roof. The glass still shakes and cannot see traffic behind me.

slickrick 06-05-2005 07:31 PM

also the design of the mirror.. i have the auto dimming one which moves ALOT easier than the 5th gens without it. my cdts can make the mirror move if i want thats how weak the mirror is.

99MAXSE-L 06-05-2005 07:56 PM

What do u have for subs?

A 15" Avalanche...

'96MaxGLE 06-05-2005 09:23 PM

Just get rid of the mirror and put n a backup camera. It seems like the max mirrors r pretty tough, but I guess they can't take but so much. I need to get some enclosure plans for the Avalanche from u slick...I ordered a pair of Dual 4ohm 15's since the price was so good, but gonna start out installing just 1. All the money for the max seems like goes toward audio setups, these r the second subs I've had n the past 10 months. Guess I can actually use a loud system, rather than getting tickets using performance mods. :)

slickrick 06-05-2005 09:50 PM

you will get tickets for loud music...since when did Chad start making dual 4 subs???

My rearview mirror is pointless unless I have the stereo off. (stock deck)

WillMax95 06-06-2005 05:39 AM

bass has no positive effects on anything except sound...hah :run:

my friend thought i was trying to look up her skirt when that happened. she didn't believe me that the bass moved my mirror down... :goofy:

'96MaxGLE 06-06-2005 03:50 PM

I'm glad u told me they're not availible n Dual 4...when I called to order the person that I placed my order with didn't sound like they knew what I was talking about when I asked about the VC config. Maybe since they're getting so much business due to the sub blow-out sale, they just hired a couple extra ppl to take orders? I just got my subs today and saw on the sales sheet where it had 15" dual 2ohm vc, which is ok. I was about to call and ask about it until I read the thread. I don't have to worry about getting a loud music ticket around here...no sound ordinance n the county :). If someone complains they can only tell me to turn it down.

slickrick 06-06-2005 03:59 PM

thats Dale...Chad's father is in there taking orders. when i call i just say Chad please, and if he asks why i say important business. :) if you dont want one of the 15's Gordon might want one.

AscendantMax 06-06-2005 06:41 PM

eh? who doesn't want their ava 15?
