Please help me to understand how to install my amp and sub
 

If my previous threads didn't expose this fact, this thread is going to show that I know almost nothing about hooking up my sub to my amp. I have pics to help exhibit my questions, and hopefully a couple guys can help me out.
I have a FOUR channel Amplifier, one 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch sub, and an amp wiring kit. I can understand how to hook up the amp to the car (ie power to amp, headunit to amp w/ rca's, ground to car), but I cannot imagine what is needed to hook the sub up. This sub has a Dual 4 ohm 2.5" Voice Coil. My question is how I'm going to hook the amp to the sub. Included in the kit was 17' of "clear audio cable", is that what I will use to connect to the sub? (It doesn't look to be more than 18 guage)

This is the part of the sub that is confusing me: Will I be hooking the 1st and 2nd channel of the amp to each coil of the sub? (Side note: the wires go + to +, and - to -, correct?)

edit: Just remembered one more: the terminal in between the ground and +12V says "REM". What does that mean?

two things....to tell you how to hook it up the correct way, I need the model of the sub and amp. It looks like the amp might be an Alpine but not sure.

The REM is the remote turn on lead. This turns the amp on or off. It requires a +12V signal usually from the head unit. What type of H/U do you have and I can tell you how to hook that up.

American Legacy Series 2 400W 4 Channel, model # LA 290. It doesn't seem to be bridgable.

OK, forget about the clear audio cable - those are the RCA connections, and the smaller wire that I said was not more than 18 ga. is the remote wire. It looks like I need some speaker wire, but I still have the question of the channels.

Your amp is rated at 2 ohm per channel so you would want to wire the sub's voice coils in parallel to channel 1. That will give you the biggest bang :smash: for your buck considering the equipment that you have.

i would recommend getting a better amp. that amp seems pretty old by the looks of the connectors. I think you will be better off with one. anyhow...

Yea, I'm not sure how old it is, but I got it for $30. This is something to get my feet wet so to speak with car audio. Those pics were what I needed, thank you.
