Ok guys, I'm pissed off...

I don't visit this forum very often, many of you probably don't know me. That being said, I'm pretty car-audio-retarded and I'm coming here to get some opinions.

A lil background. I've got the Bose system in my max and it still works great! But ever since I put 2 subs in my trunk, I've had nothing but problems. Both of my subs are blown, probably beyond the point of any return, and now my CD player is toast. I put a CD in and it comes up "ERR" and spits it right back out. All my CD's are in good shape, and play on any other CD player.

That being said, I've got AM/FM and that's it. Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears are all that fill my head anymore, and no, I don't mean that in a good way... :jester:

I'm back to step one here. What would you guys suggest as far as CD Players / Decks / Subs / anything else I might need.... I'm thinking about getting 2- 12" JL W1v2 ... anyone got these? Heard they're pretty bad arse... Feedback is MUCH APPRECIATED! :buttshex:

I would look at Eclipse or Pioneer for HU's. Find the one that has the features you want and go with that one. For subs I would look at Soundplinter, they have nice subs for very reasonable prices. What amp do you have for the subs? It sounds like you will be needing a full system minus the sub amp.

Complete system overhaul....NICE :).

I would concentrate on the HU, some nice components for the front (don't even worry about the rear right now), a nice amp to run them, the subs, as well as all of the wiring.

lol, you called it, bro... COMPLETE SYSTEM OVERHAUL!!! MUAHAHAHA!!!

I've got a Kenwood 600 Watter for an amp... I got this, a box, and 2 12" Kicker Comps from a buddy of mine for $150.... hmm..... I wonder if he knew they were SH*TTY....

Thanks for the feedback, I'm gonna check out some HU's from Eclipse and Pioneer... I shouldn't need to get new speakers, since the Bose are nice and still working fine... it just looks like I'll need a new HU and some subs... what kinda deck should I be looking for?

I am not sure if you can run an aftermarket HU with the bose system without an adapter. Some of the other guys will have to chime in on this one.

I think that this Pioneer deck is very nice, specially for the price.

i used it without an adapter, the bose speakers sound nice...BUT thats the reason why my rcas from the hu didnt work on the amp, because i didnt have the bose adapter.

Damn son, that IS a pretty sweet deck... Now that's just the receiver, right? The actual head unit doesn't come with that.... am I right?

1996blackmax Aug 13, 2005 07:51 PM

The receiver is the same thing as the head unit (two terms for the same thing :) ),

lol, im not an electronics expert by any means, maybe not even an electronics noob... would i have to buy a new cd player to do this??

Remember it is always better to be pissed off than pissed on....lol.....

Yea that pioneer deck is awesome i have it in my car. You don't need a seperate cd player it has one. It plays mp3's and has a 13 band eq built in. Anyways you just have to splice wires from the rca's of this headunit to the bose speaker level inputs in order for it to work. It's the easiest and best way to do this without buying any "special" adapters etc. If you're going to replace the head unit I would go with a component set up front and either no back speakers or just some mid-bass back there.

I wouldnt use that kenwood amp anymore or those subs. Look for something from maybe Arc Audio, older PPI stuff, I personally like MTX amps, Alpine makes good stuff just don't cheap out on the amp and make sure that you get a sub from a good company. J/L 12w6v2's are nice but over priced.

Fo sho do, I wanna go JL in my car, even their bottom of the line stuff is killer. I'm gonna look into that Pioneer receiver, since you said it's good. And I'll get rid of that amp eventually. Thanks.
