HELP!!! Don'tk know what to do about this...
 

OK guys...

I installed my system and it's complete. Was enjoying it on the way to a friend's house yesterday and on the way home it decided to cease and desist. I checked all the fuses (fuse from battery to amp distro block, disto block fuses & individual amp fuses), and they're all fine, checked all the wires, and they're all fine as well. Can't understand why I'm not getting any power to the amps all of a sudden as the head unit and equalizer both come on together. The only thing I could think of was that the remote turn-on from the equalizer wasn't turning the amps on, but I checked that connection and it seemed to be fine. Outside of engine whine, the system was working just fine and sounding great...

Head unit = Pioneer DEH-7400MP
Equalizer = Pioneer 6500EQ
4-Ch amp = Profile California 640SX
Mono amp = Profile California 600MSX
Front speakers = Infinity Kappa 652.5i
Rear Speakers = Infinity Reference 6002i
Subwoofer = One Kicker S10L54 in a ported enclosure (tuned to 32-34Hz)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as usual!

BUMP... Somebody's gotta have an idea as to what I can try...

You may have cooked the remote wire. Not really sure. I would start testing all the wires with a volt meter. Another posibility is that you lost a ground(came off/disconnected). These issues often take time to find the issue.

When you say all the wiring is fine, how did you check? Visual inspection is good to a point. If a sill panel or bolt was rubbing a wire, you wouldn't be able to see it.

I have actually run a power wire under a truck at a friends request. He came to me with the same problem. Turned out he hit a rock or some kind of road debris and it cut right through the power wire. Not saying this is your issue. Just how easy things can be overlooked.

I did a visual inspection of the wires, disconnected the wires to visually inspect them to see if there was any signs of anything out of the ordinary. Checked the grounding point in the trunk and it was still bolted down tight. I'll do another run-through tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to find the problem. In the event that the remote wire is "cooked" what would have to be done if nothing else seems to be the problem? Just run new wire? Also, is it a common practice to use a fuse on the remote wire, and if so, what amperage is sufficient if the wire used is a 14-16ga wire?

Thanks so much for your advice... I'll have to look into gettting a DMM/Voltmeter to check the power.

Cooked was a bad word. Cut or split internally due to vibration or a pinch point from an interior panel. If you get no current, def just replace it. As far as the amperage, I honestly don't know.

Thanks so much for your help, guys. I went the "cheap" route and got one of those 6-12V circuit testers and now I know the problem is with the remote lead wire. The power from the amp & distro block is just fine. I currently have the remote lead wire being fed from the equalizer, but the manual for the amplifier says that it has to be connected directly to the head unit because it will reset the amps circuitry protection in the event that it goes off, so I'll have to change it and hopefully that will do the trick once and for all.

That was the problem. It appears that you should wire the remote directly to the head unit instead of the equalizer. First time I've had that problem occur, but at least it's taken care of now. Thanks to everyone for all of your help!!!
