Viper 791 siren won't go off.

This alarm got installed by Kevin and .Org member.. he did a GREAT job.. but I was washing the engine and water got into the siren I think. Now the siren won't go off at all. Today we meet to add a proximity sensor and he checked everything and the Brain is not sending 12v to the siren. He check the siren and it is not receiving the 12v needed. He checked everything and everthing is fine. What are my options and what else can be done. Can it be bypass and give the trigger another jumper or whatever. I have no clue on what to do this is way out of my league. Please can someone point me out before I spent more money on this.

Thanks

Where did you purchase the unit?

I bought it on the internet.......

The I would say you need to search for another one. This is why people should buy authorized. Lifetime warranty is a big thing to waste.

You said theres no output from the siren lead correct? It would have to be sent in for repair. Since DEI prohibits sales of Viper/Python/Clifford "over the counter" or via the internet warranty wouldnt apply. Also all units must be dealer installed. Im sure Kevin did everything right, things just go bad sometimes, thats where warranties come in handy.

If you try to purchase another brain, then youll be in the same boat as now. Left without a warranty...

Lontar1 Oct 22, 2005 11:16 AM

so what can I do?

Pearl96Max Oct 22, 2005 11:20 AM

Go to your local dealer and have a new one installed.

Lontar1 Oct 22, 2005 11:23 AM

Ok thanks................

Lontar1 Oct 22, 2005 12:47 PM

Can it be bypass anyhow? Do you sell the brain separate? I need to know and see If I'm willing to spend 500.00 dollars more in installing this F###ing alarm

filtor1 Oct 22, 2005 01:51 PM

Bro, your pretty much screwed. I know a handfull of people in your situation. One thing dosn't work/or the whole brain arrived dead. I took the risk and so far have been very lucky. I would not take the risk again. How did the water get into the siren? Maybe it caused a short. Good luck with the alarm...

well I'm screwd then... I'm taking it to a shop on Monday to see if they can help me out. if not well I will have to think on what to do........ but it is frustrating that you loose your warranty because it is not install by a dealer. Next time the hell with everything... This sucks.. big time...... Thanks again

With all due respect to your situation DEI makes it Very clear that the units Must be dealer bought and installed. Its not like this was a surprise. Buying on the net is a risk. Unfortunately some people pay the price...Big Time.

I know....!!! my mistake... I took the risk and it is going to cost me more... One more question and hopefully you can answer it. Can the siren be bypass somewhere else in the module or that's it, there is no other way,

gtr_rider Oct 22, 2005 05:25 PM

sorry to hear man, good luck with it

Lontar1 Oct 24, 2005 11:24 AM

Silent Mode????
... could it be that the alarm went into Silent Mode, if so what can I do to fix it?

Thanks

Pearl96Max Oct 24, 2005 11:42 AM

Silent mode is a as per use basis. IF its in Valet then your LED would be a solid color. If it is, then open a door and press lock, unlock, lock and it should go out and function normally.

Lontar1 Nov 8, 2005 03:33 AM

Sorry for not replying before but I wanted to make sure they did what they say. So far I think they are going to send a new 791 with all the cables etc... so I think this is a great place to buy accessories... no questions asked.

They fell off the back of a truck, because that is WAY below dealer cost.

Might be new but DEI dealers do not sell products over the counter. Online sales are prohibited.

Well if that is right, well how can they get their products? DEI doesn't want you to buy it online and then claim their warranty, that's their issue, but for the other stuff, I have no clue if they are selling cheap or not. But saying that they steal their products is not nice. If they loose money let them do it, good for US, bad for them... but anyway I just want it to post my experience with this company and let Pearl96 know where I got it, he actually asked for the vendor.......

Not nice? OK your right its not nice. But then again the truth does hurt. It says specifically on every box "Authorized Dealer Installation Required".

Yours was new? Are you positive? Can you state for a fact it wasnt refurbed? Furthermore look what you have to go through to get your alarm working. My customers get it taken care of asap whether its a replacement or just a simple problem.

Products can and are Very often stolen. Other alternators are of course B stocks, as well as counterfeits. Yes theres MILLIONS of dollars in counterfeit products out there.

How do they get theyre products? Very simple in numerous ways, they are dealers (with an actual store) they buy from dealers, they buy from a distrubutor that will look the other way, Stolen, the list goes on and on...

Losing money? Last time I checked people run a business for a profit. How else would that business survive? When a product is below the cost it can legitimately be purchased for (dealer status) dont you think theres a catch?

When something looks to good to be true, it usually is.

Whoa calm down there buddy. I wasnt questioning your means of obtaining it or anything else. You simply stated that you didnt want to hear all about how the business is run, etc which was quite to the contary. You did in facty ask questions and I simply answered em. Thats all. No need to get all worked up.

filtor1 Nov 8, 2005 04:32 PM

I can pee farther than both of you....

So there! :) :)

No NO don't take it that way... I apologize if I sound rude to you or anyone else.. it is just that you asked for the place I bought it and I told you. I just didn't want it to start with this and I knew it was going to go this way. So let's leave it here and as I said thanks
