need help: adding a sub to stock BOSE speakers/amp on aftermarket HU...

i already read the FAQs but i'm still uncleared. when it comes to audio stuff, i'm a total noob. here's what happened:

my BOSE speakers are dying after 11 years... basically the speakers don't have any bass at all. i'm running PAC-OEM2 converter on an aftermarket HU. i'm simply looking for a small/cheap subwoofer that will provide some bass and keep the rest of the bose speakers. how do i wire them up? do i just wirm them straight out of the PAC?

btw where can i pick up cheap sub? wal-mart? the goodguys? or the classified section?

thx for all your help.

On ur OEM PAC 2 switch u should see a blue wire the goes to ur stock harness. From the blue wire crimp another wire (remote) and run it to where ever ur installing ur amp and sub (i.e trunk). Ur also going to need a set of RCA's that connect on the back of ur HU that should read out rear section or subs. From there all u need is a power cable from the battery and connect all to ur amp. And about ur sub how much are u willing to spend? If u have any more ?'s PM me.

Why not just get an Infinity Basslink?

Infinity Basslink? lol what's that? sorry i never look into the audio forum until my speakers are gone...

where can i get that? how do i install it? how much is it? what are some pros/cons on this thing?

Its a self contained amplifier/subwoofer that is molded into a corner of your trunk. all you need to do is run power, ground, remote and RCA to it.

google it man....

Basslink FTW, and if your speakers are bad they aren't going to sound any better without replacing them as well. Even if you turn the bass down all the way there is going to be lots of distortion coming from the blose speakers.

Well if I were u I would save up cause it would also be good to chng ur stock speakers. If u want a decent sound and on a budget go to wal-mart, best buy, circuit city, or good guys and get ur self some pioneer speakers for under 60 bucks. Its the least u can do and basslink sounds good to. Here is a link to the basslink. http://www.cardomain.com/item/INFBASSLINK

thx for the info man.

one more question, does this thing include all the power wiring? so for the power and the ground, should i get it straight outta the battery? or is there an alternative place i can get power without running long wire from my trunk to the engine?

also, i see the there are 4 RCA output, rear right, rear left, front right, front left. so all i need to do is plug it into my HU right?

lastly...for mounting the subwoofer, how do i mount it? where is the best spot to mount it? on the side? or right in the center? btw i have a RSTB in the trunk.

well...technically it's not really blown, the highs are still highs, the lows are just not low enough anymore.

btw i don't listen to loud music... just regular chinese hip/hop R&B, and i'm simply looking for bolder bass.

happyricefob 02-08-2006 09:35 AM

hrm....ebay has them for $210....

You should run wire from the batter for the power. The ground can be done in the trunk. The rca's you put to the rear left and rear right of the hu. The basslink has mounts that you just screw into the floorboard.

Power from the battery. Ground to chassis in the trunk itself.

Use the rear output from the HU

The basslink will have instructions on how to mount it.
If you're not comfortable I suggest geting a reputable shop to do it.
