Wiring led's?
Hey guys I just bought a bunch of led's and I have a few quesions. What side is pos and neg? What side does the resistor go on?

The short lead (cathode) goes to ground, also look for a flat spot on the body that also indicates the cathode (though this is not always there). If the leads have been cut, you can also look at the metal inside the body (assuming it's clear and not a milky package)... the larger "bowl" side is typically (99% of the time) the cathode. You can also use the diode check function of most multimeters to determine proper orientation... in the correct direction you will see a forward voltage displayed, incorrect orientation and the voltage will be near zero or the display will show nil/error/whatever.
That should give you enough methods to check against :) And it doesn't matter what side the resistor goes on, but standard convention puts the resistor on the most positive side (i.e., between the battery and LED, rather than LED and ground). |
