Yeah, im new to the audio room as u can see by my post.... I just installed a new system in my max and love it. Got me wondering what everone else was bumpin..... Whew my head is still thumpin from the noise lol..................
glad you're liking your system. i remember the days when i first had bass...ah memories :D
i'm running a 15" sound splinter rlp with a bridged arc audio 1500-xxk powering it. hits nice and stupidly low, and the sq is sweet. :) |
despite the recent shortcommings of a product malfunction I love my ascendant audio avalanche 15...others can verify its quality and spl. :)
If/when I go sealed I am sure I will love it even more. |

Image Dynamics!

JL-Audio W7's followed by Fujitsu-Ten "Eclipse" Titanium Series
ive had several subs over the years since ive been dealing with stereos. the ones ive liked most were my 12" punch HX2, and 12" earthquakes... but now im currently running 2 12" kicker l7, i absolutely love these... got em in a ported box running at 2 ohm, pushed by a mtx 1501D that kicks out 1500 at 2ohm..
I have owned both alumapro Alchemy RX's and MX's both are great subs. The RX's get loud, have great low end, and sound really good. While the MX's have better SQ than the RX's but dont have the low end like the RX's did though they can hadle double kick bass like no ones business. Im running the MX's right now and will probably keep them for a while unless I can get a deal on some flatlines ;)

I like my kenwood excelon 12's dvc
another vote for Image Dynamics
I have an IDMax 12 for sale if anyone wants it!
I love my pioneer premier TS-W3004SPL's :D

If I cant find anything by the end of the week..imma get the T20001BD and hook them up to that... these subs are gonnna pound ridiculously.. lol |
He will reply...he has 2 lil twins he's taking care of these days. :)
yeah.. read that in another post the other day... he's a busy guy! lol
Of all the subs I have ever owned my all time favorite is Rockford 10" Hx2 SVC. I've never had a sub that took that much abuse and played so deep and was that accurate. Of course the products I've used has a limited list, so it's not like I can go on that much. I have used 4 different generations of Pioneer subs, Cerwin Vega's which rank close to the hx2's, Kicker solo baric 15 etc etc etc.
Image Dynamics here, Sick lows and the IDMAXes atleast get LOUD while doing it.
I'm thinking I'm getting an ID12v3....unless there is something better out there for the $160 shipped. I like the small sealed box that leaves room in my trunk.
It'll be run by a Planet Audio amp 350rms @4ohms; 600x1 rms@2ohms; or 850x1rms @1ohm. What impedence is ideal? Had a Diamond Audio D3 that sounded pretty good. I bet a D6 would have hit the spot though. |
2 12" IDmax d4v3's here :) couldnt be happier, thinking of trying out flatlines for kicks
I will vote for my Diamond TDX/D9's. I have been extremely pleased with both output and acurate reproduction from 20-100Hz. The response is very flat taking into consideration they are ported and tuned to 32Hz. Many of the other subs that have been mentioned are great, but I am sticking with what I know. :)

What crossover freq. do you guys adjust your amps to? What is an ideal setting? between 50-210hz i've heard about 110hz or do u just play it by ear? sigh...nub in the audio room guys
I set mine around 80ish on the amp and on the h/u...if my h/u had a 63hz setting I would probably use that.

Over the years, I've ownd some nice subs. Never any garbage subs:
Image Dynamics IDQ v.1--Definitely the best sounding sub I've ownd, but not quiet loud enough. Not bad for my first setup. Had them paired with an HCCA 5s comp set (basically a 2 ohm version of the super highend A/D/S comp set) run off an arc 2050 (back when arc just came out) Had 2 of em sealed with 300 watts each. Audiomobile Mass 2012--For those who don't Know, 5 years ago this was the king of SQL. 21mm of xmax in a time when most subs had 14. This sub started the excursion wars and the internet audio company boom. If I had to keep a sub for historic purposes, it would have been this one. Completely changed the market. Eventually this sub was slain by the IDmax, then the Brahma, and later on the w7. I ported the badboy and was blown away. This sub was manufactured by TC Sounds. Elemental Designs e12a. Great sub. Got it used for like 200 bux. Sounded good ported tuned to 32hz...until it was stolen....This sub was also manufactured by TC sounds. Avalanche 15--This sub slams. With 27mm of xmax, this bad boy has some crazy displacement....SEALED. I think my head would explode if i ported it. Oh yeah and its only getting 400 watts(itll take 1000 atleast). I listen to 95% rock, and this thing is pretty accurate on those kick drums. I won't be buying a new sub any time soon. So which is the best? Does it really matter? They all put a smile on my face. They all were considered top tier subs in their hayday. They all sound better than yours :p |
