I'm needing some tweeters.....

any suggestions, I would really like to stay under $100 for some good ones. I will be powering them with 40 watts RMS with a built in crossover. thanks. I found some titanium lanzar at a local shop marked for $150, said he'd take 120 for them, but I've never been a fan of lanzar. Currently I have:

Alpine 9825 head unit
Soundstream 405 Amp
15" DVC 2ohm ARC sub
6 1/2 CDT mids
fosgate tweets gave out on me... so don't mention these to me again, lol

thanks

JB

They gave out on you, then you were gonna go with lanzars? What did you think they would do? You need a crossover thats capable of the right frequencies. If you're using the 405 to xover the tweeters expect them to blow out alot. You need a hpf of most likely arond 2000 - 3000 if not higher depending on the tweeter.l

IMHO, you'd be better off buying a set of seperates that come with a passive crossover. That's gonna run more than $100 though. But, you get what you pay for.

If you just want to get tweeters again, then buy a passive crossover for them, so you at least don't kill them.

are you talking about components when you say seperates? and I had resistors on the fosgates. I would have thought between that and the crossover in the amp it wouldn't hurt my tweets.

Yes he is.

I have a set of JL VR tweeters that would work for you. PM me if you are interested

Resistors are a no no when it comes to amps/speakers. Are you sure you didn't mean capacitors? Even still a passive x over that comes with a set of components is much better, unless you have the capability at crossing over at high frequencies from your amp > 2000hz with a minimum of 18db/ octave.
