wtf, 3 bits? did you keep the bit level?

djfrestyl May 23, 2006 04:25 PM

Of course it was level. I wasn't even pushing. They just snagged up randomly.

AscendantMax May 23, 2006 04:27 PM

they have a warranty against failures like that you can claim? what bolt were you trying to drill out?

djfrestyl May 23, 2006 04:29 PM

But I was able to hollow out the hole...so I went to Home Depot and get a nut/bolt. Can't be driving around without a seat, ya know.

In the meantime, I was driving around in my brothers current car/my old car...the golden chariot

Yea...I got it all together no problem. Then I cleaned the interior so I was happy again. Now I just need my ampsssssss.

BTW today was rewire day...new RCA's, all new speaker wire, I even ran another run of speaker wire from the crossover in the doors to the kicks, for when I upgrade to 3 way passive :woot:

I've seen the same thing happen with titanium in people a few times :run: . This usually happens when they do not take it easy.

slickrick May 23, 2006 04:53 PM

Most I've ever benched was about 175. I miss the gym. Can't wait till all this bureautic crap finishes and I can use the company gym.

AscendantMax May 23, 2006 06:27 PM

I had some bits that looked exactly the same as yours and I was drilling of a screw on my probe and the thing snapped like a pretzal. Bad thing was that I used a half dead cordless drill and I got them from Home Depot just because I never had titanium bits. I'm thinking strong but I'll stick to my regular iron\aluminum bits.

djfrestyl May 23, 2006 07:16 PM

Got these from Depot too...but they're Bosch

Craftsman next time....

Pearl96Max May 23, 2006 07:39 PM

cheap bits FTL.

:)

mendon99 May 24, 2006 01:05 AM

shoulda got craftsman the first time, if you break them, supposedly you can just take them back to (sears) and get them replaced for free.

Jay_Alix May 24, 2006 04:10 AM

It's only titanium coating, and you really don't need it for what you were doing.
HSS ( high speed steel ) would be fine. That's a fairly long bit, the shorter the better, unless it has to be that long. Another tip, start with a small pilot hole and work up to a bigger size, takes a little longer, but less problems.
Worked 8 years in a machine shop. I've broken more drill bits than I can remember :) and the boss was never too happy when I had to inform him that the $80 bit we just installed chipped and needed to be replaced.

Bollwerk May 24, 2006 07:13 AM

Are those bits made for removing stripped screws/bolts? The ones I used were specific for removing stripped screws/bolts and are used in a reverse direction on the drill. Worked wonderfully. From the pic, it looks like those are "standard" direction drill bits.

djfrestyl May 24, 2006 07:17 AM

Yea they're standard. I just wanted to open the hole. And I dont own a tap/die set.

nismos14 May 24, 2006 01:09 PM

He can't even use a bit without breaking it, you gonna trust him with your car? haha funny stuff.
