Frost King duct insulation FTW! (pics)
So I decided to try the FrostKing duct insulation today for sound deadening. Bought one roll for $16 at Home Depot. It comes in a 15'x12" roll. I used 3M spray adhesive as a precautionary measure knowing that the self adhesive is not very sticky.
I covered both front doors and have enough leftover to complete one rear door. So I assume 2 full rolls will cover 4 doors, rear deck, a possible a wheel well or two.
I am absolutely amazed at the difference in sound the front speakers put out. They are Infinity 6012i's. Huge improvement in bass response. I still have not been on the highway, but will be tomorrow to see if any improvement on reducing road noise.
I used metal tape to cover all small openings and some medium size openings, then sprayed 3M adhesive onto the back of the insulation and began installing.

I keep seeing mils everywhere and in the sound deadening sticky, it states to use atleast 45mils thickness. I used an online mil to inches convertor and it states that .125" (1/8") = 125mils. ???
Original DynaMat is only .070" (1/14").
Or do you mean weight?

i would also prefer something a bit heavier.

...improves efficiency as it reduces vibration and noise.

My front Infinity's sound so much better. The mid-bass has become more defined. There is another thread in here where I was complaininig cause my door speakers had no mid-bass. I was blaming my sub. Not anymore.
As for road noise. It has definately dropped the sound levels, but I won't know for sure until I do 3 things...
1. Frost King rear doors
2. Frost King rear deck
3. Weatherstrip rear doors (famous wind sound coming in both)
I'll have a total of $32 in this for all 4 doors and the rear deck. Trunk comes later. BUT make sure you use 3M spray adhesive or you wont get a good contact.

I stopped into Home Depot today and they have two of the Frost King's left. The guy that worked there said they came from another location and that he doesn't usually stock them. He showed me some alternatives but nothing closely resembled Frost King or sound deadening.
I'm going to do the same as you, 4 doors, rear deck & trunk. I'll probably buy both of the Frost King and maybe get some eDead v1SE for the trunk since I need the better stuff for the trunk and decent stuff for the doors. Supposely the RAAMmat BXT is the best value but they don't sell per foot and $130 shipped for a roll is kinda a lot.

If you're going the home depot route, at least get something with some weight. Check the roofing department for some rolls of peal and seal or similar.
The better sound is prolly due to doors being better sealed, but as I've said, to truely dampen you need weight
