I just found out that the scissor bars that hold the trunk up will interfere with the installation of a IB 10" subwoofer set-up.

Was thinking of removing the bars and using gas trunk shocks like Scott Buwalda's World Champion 2003 Nissan Altima, but they are quite expensive.

I need to figure this out to regain the trunk space consumed by my box. If anyone has ideas AND pictures of this set-up in a 5th gen Maxima, I would appreciate it.

Its only OEM hood struts that are expensive. Generic ones from Discount Auto are pretty cheap, and with a little work making a bracket or two work great. BBOYSTEVIE has a thread here somewhere with the part number from Discount Auto for the ones he used.

Great - Thank you! Now if I can get the correct length shocks, I might be set.

DAMNIT - I really need to become a member so I can use the search function. I am trying to find the post where he listed the gas charged lift supports and am not getting any hits with the Yahoo search of the forum. ARGH!~

I couldn't find a thread with a post by BBOYSTEVIE where he stated what struts he used (although I don't claim to be anywhere near good at search).
