Need help: Remote start but auto AC doesn't start
Hi I have remote starter on a Maxima 01. When I remote start my car, the AC doesn't turn on along with it (I had the AC turned on before I turned off my engine). Is it because I have an automatic AC? When the engine is remote started, the lights on the AC turn on, but no air comes out. Only when I insert my key and turn the ignition to the on position when air start coming out. Is it possible to have the AC turn on along with the engine? Maybe connect some AC wire with the ACC wire?
Thanks. |
you make sure you connected everything? forget an accessory wire?
|
Its either an ignition or acc wire i would go check to make sure nothing happened to it
|
Im betting its 2nd ignition that isnt hooked up to the brain at all.
|
Im betting that correct. They prolly used the wrong Red wire.
|
red? assuming its what unit?
btw Don - my buddy got the comps today, a day before FedEx said he would. props to you  and he thanks you. |

My stereo turned on along with the remote start, so I guessing the ACC must have gotten power in order for the stereo to start (I hooked the car's turn-on lead amplifier to the ACC when I installed my stereo, so the ACC must have turned on correctly). Maybe the 01 Maxima automatic AC is designed to not run like this? Is there a bypass somehow? Or maybe my installer did it wrong. Thanks for any help/suggestions. |

I dont know how a reputable place would not be ale to do this and without extensive help. The Maxima is a Very simple car to do especially the '00-'01. If hes really that lost have him call me. Otherwise Id have to say hes really a nOOb. No theres no bypass or anything else, its just a matter of connecting the right wires. |

Completely unrelated. They simply didnt hook up your 2nd ignition wire.

I absolutely agree. No relation whatsover. Not to mention the module that You obtained is the least reliable in Nissan/Infinitis. I simply do not trust them. |

Go back to the shop and demand they give you a discount for their incompetence.
1) Your alarm install isnt something you want to dig into yourself if you havent done remote starts before. It usually ends in disaster for any noobs that end up attempting their own. Like Don and I said, its an ignition wire (part of your ignition harness wires) that isnt powered up, most likely not even connected to the brain at all. Tell them this. 2) Yes, you really do need a relay to pop the trunk. We sell individual relays for $10, so they didnt really rape you on that, if part of that $25 was a bit of extra labor, but its not a 'deal' either. 3) Reasons why they are retarded: There are factory wires at the SECU, directly under the dash, for the factory hood pin and factory trunk pin, which is where they shouldve tapped into the factory lock/unlock/door trigger wires anyway. |
Or maybe it's the 2nd Accessories wire? According to the remote start diagram on http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=356731 , they didn't list a wire for the 2nd ignition but they did for the 2nd Accessories one
5th Gen 2001 --------------------- 12volts: green (+) Location: ignition harness Starter: black/red or (+) Location: ignition harness black/wht Second Starter: black/blue (+) Location: ignition harness Ignition: black/red (+) Location: ignition harness Accessory: red/yellow (+) Location: ignition harness Second Accessory: white/blue (+) Location: ignition harness And on this website: http://www.drdetailshop.com/STARTINSTALL.html It says: "Accessory wire This wire supplies power to the vehicle's blower and heater/Ac controls. It shows between 11.5v and 14v with the key in the ACCESSORY and RUN positions of the key switch. Some vehicles have multiple accessory wires to control all the heater and a/c functions. If it is necessary to connect a second accessory wire, use a relay!" So I'm guessing they forgot about the Accessories wire, which controls the AC [b/c the 2nd ignition is usually for controlling the transmision]. But please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just doing research online and guessing b/c I really have no clue. |
Its still describing the same problem....doesnt matter whether it was a 2nd ignition or 2nd accessory, they shouldve tested prior to installing the unit, and subsequently powered up each wire accordingly. All of the said wires are in the exact same spot (the ignition harness) and there are only 6 of them, no more no less.

Thanks alot, I wouldn't want to be messing with my alarm. I'll come visit the shop in a few days. |

never go there again.. he should be able to diagnose and fix the problem by sticking his head in the dash. |
