I know what's going into my dash

I've been shopping for a new HU+Navi for a while. This should be a nice setup:

With the launch of the 2nd Gen of BlackbirdTM (PMD-B200) portable navigation device and IVA-W205 in-dash AV head unit, Alpine Electronics have provided a new flexible AV+N (audio/video plus navigation) solution without any horrid cables! The new system runs on the Microsoft Windows CE platform, and fits inside the IVA-W205, a 2-DIN DVD/CD/MP3/WMA AV head unit for an integrated in-vehicle entertainment and navigation package. Users will find navigation easy thanks to the on board 6.5-inch flat PulseTouchTM touch-screen LCD. The IVA-W205 DVD/CD/MP3/WMA AV head unit will sell for a hefty $1000 price tag. Check out the specs after the jump.

It's actually going to be 900. good choice, get the processor too and you'll have a killer setup.

I love the fact that you'll be able to take the nav into a different car. The only thing im really worried about that setup is the navi getting too hot possibly...

I'd prefer an AVN2210. :)

2210 is nice, but this is a helluva alot cleaner looking!

all comes with a price... AVN is cheaper and Id take a TomTom over a Blackbird. I dare you to ask what the local rep uses...

I know what you mean. I heard mixed reviews about the Blackbird. I'm hoping the next gen Blackbird is better than the first.

Yeah, but Alpine's sound controls are top notch. I've had nothing but Alpines so I can't really say but features like "Bass Engine" are a real plus for me. I've always wanted Alpine to make a NAVI+HU all in one and this is the closest thing to it.

a tomtom? thats blasphemy. those things are horrible. And the screen is too small..

Eclipse finally realized that people didnt always want a navi permanantly stuck in one car. :)

YEP...used both before. Blackbird can't TOUCH the tom tom. Now the Garmin NUVI....that pwns the tom tom. lol...

I just recently installed the kenwood navi into my friend's car and it uses the garmin software. NO VSS FTL!!!! Makes for an easy installation but sucks in the city. :jeffy:

I used to work at cartoys and we didn't sell a whole lot of blackbirds, whenever I messed around with it tho, it worked real well, and the customers that bought it were usually pretty happy with them
