Dash Kit f/ 5th Gen Q's
 

The last thing I need to finish off my system in my 01 AE Max is a Dash kit. I have searched through the forums and found some information. I want some opinions before I make a decision.

From what I've read I have several options. The best looking seems to be a 2000-2001 GXE dash kit with a 99 Door (door flips up and looks neat). The downside is the cost.

I'm also wondering what the best/ cheaper alternative is. I'm looking for something that has a pocket under the radio. Can you guys make some suggestions?

On a sidenote, this is getting expensive. Here's what I have...
Deck- Pioneer DEH P780MP & PAC steering adapter
Components- DLS UP6's
Sub- JL 12w6v2 ported
Component Amp- JL 300/2
Sub Amp- Alpine MRD 500
RCA's/Wiring- Krystal kable RCA's, 4 gauge power/ground

Nothing else is nearly as good. The Metra and AI kit's have good fitment but are black ABS plastic, not color matched, and the Scosche kit is simply a piece of crap. Their pathetic attempt at color matching doesnt really match, and youll kill yourself trying to get it to fit right.

Thanks for the reply. I'm almost finished so I shouldn't cheap out now. And as far as fitment goes, that's Don's problem lol. I'm making him install the headunit and comps. I'm wiring up the amps but after that I'll leave it up to a pro cause I'm tired of working on my car.

Its likely, since Don knows how much of a PITA the Scosche kit is, he would charge more to install it anyway versus the others. I know I would. It literally takes like twice as long to install if you want it to look just right. It truly does suck.

The GXE kit is Nissan part # 68750-VENTC. And yes, the 99 pocket has the door, which, personally, I like the cleanliness of the 00-03 pocket better without the door, but thats personal preference. It also goes along with the fact that I like having the radio in the lower din, which makes the door of the 99 pocket not flow as well with the dash if it's in the upper din. Versus for example irish44j, who has his radio in the upper din and doesnt look as bad.

I'd like to see some pics of the 5th gen. w/ a single din and pocket vs. non-pocket. Any volunteers? Any links?
