what's the deal with alpine iDA-X001 ???
 

My friend went out and purchsaed this headunit iDA-X001 , it's actually very nice, and has a good amount of features. The thing that bothers me is that its very picky with the ipod it uses. I had to try 3 different ipods, before it would actually work, and then sometimes even with that same ipod it would say USB device error. Anyone have any idea why its doing that ? Oh and video ipods dont work with it

Video ipods should work fine with it. They work with the IVA-W200, so I don't see why it wouldn't work with a newer deck. But you're not going to get actual video from the video ipod to show though, without using their KCE-415 interface. The only reason I can think of one not working (for music) would be the ipod firmware needs to be updated.

update ipod software, and if it still does it take it back to the dealer make them swap it out.

Thats pretty ridiculous when it doesn't even have a cd slot. Should be compatible with ever ipod and mp3 player known to man.

i figured it out two days ago. THe supplied usb cable will only work with ipod videos.

THe kce 422i will work with everything except the ipod video.

oh, i thought you knew this. yeah the USB will only work with 4th and 5th gen ipods. It will only work the older ones with the cable, yeah..

parag, it was made for people who dont use cds anymore. its thousands of times faster than any other ipod capable deck. its sole purpose of creation was for ipod lovers, nothing more. I wish people would get over this..

the only thing that bothers me about hte unit is that with all the empty space behind the faceplate, they couldnt make the stupid thing 4v pretout..

yeah get a line driver.

it wasn't even necessary to get a line driver, he was only running a 4 channel rockford fosgate amp. Oh and for all those that care, if anyone ever asks you to work on a 1990 porsche 944 s2 Tell them, no! This was the absolute worst car i ever had to work on all the panels are hand made, and made of vinyl, and glued onto the car lol. I mean it came out perfect but alot of care is necessary in order to do rear speakers.

I have a KCE-422i and it works fine with my video ipod. (for music, not video)

errrrr i meant that the kce 422i is the full speed cable and meant for all ipods id ont know why i said not video lol.
