so after a few days worth of listening to the nobelium...i must say...DAMN!
right off the bat the sub walked all over my arc 12 in terms of output and response. box spec is 1.62 cubic ft, ported and tuned to 35hz. this is one stupidily accurate sub! it kept up with everything i threw at it, and it reproduced the notes with authority. i played everything from classical to rock to vocals and everything in between. the sub is just so damn smooth and musical. i have it crossed at 60hz, and with the ssf on. this sub will hold its own imo with the best of them. i'm very curious on how this sub will perform in comparision to the new stereo integrity mag. i need to give my buddy a call...
but what i think surprised me the most was the amount of output of this sucker pumped out. it'll get pretty loud considering it's a sq oriented sub. it drops pretty low too when i threw some tracks with church organ stuff in it. there is a peak in the response though, but that's due to the tuning. i played a sweep and to my ear, it peaked around 38-40hz. i'm sure i can make the response more linear with a lower tune, but i'll enjoy this configuration for now!

So I've been getting a nasty buzz/whine from my speakers recently. Isolated it down to my RCA's.
Got some RCA's from Don today - was able to swap them in, run them under the jambs, all the way to my trunk.
...Then I found that I ran my old RCA's UNDER that black shroud that goes all the way around the trunk opening. I have to remove my seat and about 20-30 bolts just to get my old RCA's out. Or maybe I'll just cut em.

Its a piece of hardened steel that is behind the plastic paneling. Pretty much a huge flat metal ring around the opening for the trunk. I'm going to snip them - tomorrow, got other crap to do tonight.

hmm, i think i have that metal on my 6th gen. if that plate wasn't in the way, i could have shoved that big *** ported box for my 15 back there
so i wanna replace the fan on my 4150-xxk since it's abnormally loud. i dusted it with canned air, but the whine is still there. so... can i just use any computer fan? i know computers run off of 12 volts, but will they last with 14+ with the car on? if anything they'll just spin faster...

yeah, i had the cover off that amp awhile back, and it looks to be a simple 60mm computer fan. guess i'll give them a shout and see what they say.

looks like i can just replace it with any computer fan...i got a reply from arc today:
Gordon
You should be able to replace it with any computer fan of the same size. I
would suggest a good quality fan that can handle the heat and vibration.
Thanks

I didn't know it was possible for moisture to penetrate a car like that unless the car was submerged in water or something. That really sucks
#4862
yeah, their street flooded and the cars were submerged. the water got up past the height of the wheels.

Nice install. Two comments:
1. WTF does the owner need 2 head units for
2. He's not powering enough equipment to need 19 different fused power leads, all of which are 4 gauge.
I do like the etched plexi that's labeled - it will just suck when he changes it up
Also, this thread has started to suck.

2. It is an obvious overkill, show install. Just to add another ball to his sack
x2, this thread does kinda suck
