Sorry it took all day to finally reply
But Chris,
That is a beutiful installation. Cant wait to see the rest of the pics. You did a top notch job. Its hard to believe thats the first time you've tackled installing anything car stereo related, and the patience you used in doing everything right shows. I had no idea that it turned out that good. BTW, nice speaker baffles, where did you get them? So whats next on the list to do? |
Hahahah...
Hmm....All that stuff looks awfully familiar to me, including the baffles :D Hey Chris, how much difference did you notice once you finished doing your whole car? How in the world did you fit those door panels back on? And one more thing....have you considered changing your name to sweetsound... ;) |
How many rolls of Raamatt did it take to do your car? I will be doing mine soon and I would like some idea on the number of rolls it will take. I just want one layer though. I already bought about 45 square feet of dynamat like deadner. I got the stuff from McMaster-Carr Supply. Will Raamatt go over dynamat? I might try both.
|
Anton, you have fiberglass baffles too? :) DWWJR56, Raammat will go over and stick to anything, including stuff you DONT want it stuck too if you're not careful
|
Anton <--- This is the guy that got my mindset to sound deadening overkill :D Be sure to check out his website, that's where I learned A LOT of what I had to do. Thanks man!!
dwwjr56, I used about 3.5 rolls. Be sure to use at least one roll of RAAMmat...please?? :) whitemax <-- this is the guy that made those beautiful baffles on my front doors. Thank you again! Don't they look so pretty with RAMMmat all over it? :D I couldn't do this job without all of the help I received. Anton and whitemax, all of those annoying and endless e-mails from me have paid off. THANKS! |
RAMMMAT
so did you notice any difference? comon tell us. we're anxiously anticipating a concise briefing on your project!!
|
oh, of course there was a difference. It was practically a whole new world inside my car.
For people who like to "show off" their system, I don't think my kind of install would be for you. I can barely hear any of the music from outside of the car, at a moderately high level. But yes, midbass and low frequencies are very clean and precise, without any muddy sounding bass. I have absolutely no rattles anymore! none! it's just pure SOUND :D but initially, after the install was complete, I heard a tiny rattle on the rear left speaker. Annoyed me so much!! After getting my 4th roll of RAMMmat, I took off the deck for a second time, and put more layers of mat on. Turns out, it was still rattling! So I inspected the speaker itself, and after some light bulbs clicking in my head, I found out the rattle came from a wire that was touching the cone when it moved. So yes, if I had to do it all over again, I would (though it was a very tedious job...at times I felt like giving up :D). |
Is it noticeably quieter if you drive the car with the stereo off? How much quieter is it?
Thanks |
well, yes, it's quieter, for sure. The way I notice this is there isn't as much outside noise coming in anymore, other than the tires, and wind. Those are the two that I can still noticibly hear. As speed increases, I mostly start hearing wind.
Also, my conversations w/ people can be at a moderately quiet tone now, while before I had to talk at a slightly louder volume to be heard. And of course, the music stays in the car much better. |
