I'm thinking about doing the roof in my Maxima after seeing what Rob Hephner said about it. Any of you guys who have done it please post your opinions/impressions and how much difference did it make.
Thanks

I've not tackled it yet, but did look into it back when I was doing the rest of the car. I was feeling around up in there though, and I believe there is padding in there already like the stuff under the carpet. I didnt try pulling off the liner to be sure it is everywhere though....

I think the hardest thing will be getting around the sunroof sliders. Don't wanna interfere with the smooth operation. I have also been thinking about thickening up the liner that covers the sunroof for when it is shut. The only other thing that can be applied to the glass without making it useless, is tint. Don't think that micron thick tint will be much of a damper.

wow old thread... hahah nope no padding inside. .i just ripped mine out.. none of that sound deadening... the sunroof looks like a lot of work to get around though..

No padding, just the thin headliner. I had mine pulled to get the headliner redone in blue a few days ago.

i have from the sunroof back dyno matted ... its a little pain in the *** because unless you take seats out you have to slightly bend the headliner to get it out..and then all the clips that hold it in dont clip in totally ...my roof still flexed about 2" top to bottom ...but it didnt make the *boing* kind of sound anymore ...you can also layer it up to about 4 times ...theres enough gap up there....

Hmmm? Sounds like a challenge. Which means I have to try to get 6 layers up there! ! ! No, just kidding. I'll probably go with 2-3 where it can be applied without great difficulty. And Then a good layer of absorbtion material. Glass, foam, I'm sure I have something around here that will work. Definitely a spring time project though. i already have enough do do that I was supposed to do last spring to take up my whole fall and winter.
