Another successful install with a metra harness

Well not really a metra harness, I ordered one online but it was taking for ever to come so I just made my own. The deck is a Pioneer DEH-6900UB, I have my stock BOSE system wired in through the 4v preouts. My BOSE system sounds AMAZING with this new deck, I thought it was good before, its so much better. Bass is deeper and clearer, over all its just more clear, and it can go higher.

Soldered all the connections together and wrapped them in e-tape.

I used a slide out tray from a GLE to go in the bottom din slot. In the picture the front cover is not on, Im painting it.

So I also now have an extra Metra 70-7551 harness here if anyone is looking for one.

If you are using stock Bose amps/speakers, in-line attenuators are needed.

Keep feeding high-level signals into Bose amps is not a good idea. It might work at first. But your amps will be fried at last.

Dunno if you're paying attention, but he spliced RCA's into the inputs for the bose, and is running the low lever outputs from the HU to the bose.g

Oh, sorry about that. I did not noticed it's pre-amp output.

Ya, Im using the 4v preouts. Thats definitely the way to go if the preouts on your deck are powerful enough, it made the install so easy.

Nice job on the install. Hope you tied those wires together before buttoning the car back up.

now imagine if you had better speakers and amps..

Ya everything is tied up nicely.

My friend was going to sell me some decent speakers and an amp for pretty cheap, (actually as part of a trade for some wheels) but Im perfectly happy with the way it sounds now. Dont really have any interest in getting anything else.

How does the Pioneer line up with the dash? From the picture looks like it lines up pretty well. Do you have a side picture?

The reason I asked is because over the weekend I was trying to install a Kenwood KDC-X591 (with the Scosche adapter from Crutchfield) and after I put the HU on, I realized it stick out too much, ~0.5 inches. Now I don't know what to do. I like a clean look.

Also, the pocket underneath HU, does it just fit right in? I remember a while ago, there is a FAQ on replacing the Bose HU, someone posted he had to stuff something in between to fill the gap.

Too bad it seems all the links in the FAQ are all messed up.

The pocket underneath fits in perfect cus its from a maxima. The deck isnt completely flush, but it sticks out less than half an inch.
