Best Subwoofer for Low Power System

I recently upgraded my audio system. I have component speakers wired to an Alpine MRP-F250 4-channel amp (4x40 watts, 2x100 watts bridged). I would like to add a small sub to fill out the bass.

2 of the channels are for the front speakers, so I only have 80-100 watts RMS available for the sub. What would be the best type of sub for my situation? I'm thinking a single 10" sub. Can I get away with a sealed enclosure even though they require more power than a ported box? I don't want trunk-rattling bass, and I like the cleaner sound of a sealed box.

Yes. I have done several installs using these drivers. The new versions. I recommend them to anyone with under 300 watts that wants a great sounding sub. Although they can get pretty loud, they are designed with high efficiency, cost effectiveness, and sq in mind.

What about the bass tube (e.g. Bazooka) style subs? They seem to be very efficient and have good customer reviews on Crutchfield.

I have only used the Bazooka tubes 3 times and been impressed all three. For the amount of space they take up and how loud they got.

So I'm pretty much decided on the 10" Bazooka tube now. Thanks for the all the advice. I have a final question: since I've never wired a subwoofer before, I don't know how many speaker wires I need. Obviously there is no need for stereo on a sub, but does a single subwoofer typically have one pair of inputs (+ and -) or stereo inputs (R + -, L + -)? I would like to bridge the input at the amp and then just run one speaker wire to the sub.

If you get the DVC it may have 2 on the outside, if you get the SVC it should have one which is 4 ohms. That is what you want because of your amp configuration.

One set of wires.
