Deck & Sub install Q's - 4th gen

Guys,

Getting my 96 setup for the winter season and decided to throw in my old Pioneer DEH-P4600MP and subwoofer but I have a few questions on the install

http://www.teamctr.com/equipe/Cidrac.../DEH4600MP.jpg

1. I have been reading the forums and it seems like I cannot get a wiring harness for the 96 splice everything into the harness on the deck and have everything work without blowing the stock Bose speakers?

I would need a PAC kit & completely wire it, to avoid this? If that is the case, I could then wire my sub up as per usual.

2. I have a tweeter and 6.5 component set (no rear speakers) from a previous setup that I used in a different car. I could install all of that and everything would work fine? The only issue would be the rears? Would I have to disconnect them to avoid blowing them?

3. I also have XM and the deck is XM ready - what does that mean? There is a proprietary plugin or something?

Any help would be great!

OK got all the wiring I needed, however, I am having a problem getting the deck to turn on

I wired up the ground, RED, and yellow Battery wires to confirm deck power - deck would not respond. Tried another deck too and nothing. Can someone confirm that if all else is OK a deck should turn on with only those 3 wires connected?

I will be checking for actual power in the meantime

IF you have been reading the forums then you would have realized two things..

1. You do not need to rewire the car just to change the HU

2. The factory harness does not supply ground. You need to ground to the chassis.

Without the antenna connected your HU may not turn on.

That would be only if no ground is connected and it used the antenna as a floating ground.

I'm assuming he connected his ground through the harness so... but we'll see :D

If through the harness (prolly) then yessir the antenna would help. However I hope he reads a bit more and does an actual ground. :)

Based on his first post .... IDK lol!!

All wired up everything working great now, how can I test if the RCA cables from the deck are supplying a signal to the subwoofer out back (low voltage range or something)? My amp has the green light on but the sub isn't working.

PearlGirl - Been reading on the forums doesn't mean I've read everything

PearlGirl? Great way of trying to aquire help there buddy.

Reading the forums should include reading the stickies. Theyre there and stickied to the top for a reason. Apparently some people are too ignorant to even look and quickly skip right over them.

Your initial smug response of "IF.. you would have realized" accomplishes nothing except sounding like a *****y woman. Guess I overlooked a few of the 50 links on the first page alone of the car audio thread sticky. Just looking for some quick help from fellow car guys, not a lecture because you can devote more time to the internet than me.

If you want to help someone try giving them a link instead of a lecture if they miss something.

You still don't have your answer after 4 days, you could have just checked the stickies, who's wasting their time now? Your answer would have been had in one day, and even better like 1 hour.

You said you read, if in fact you did you would have found your answer and not even have had to post this thread. Although apparently you have more time than I to return back here multiple times just to b!tch some more.

Give you a link? Sorry bud I dont even spoon feed my 3 year old children.
