Amp won't turn on anymore

My amp blew a fuse about 2 weeks ago. I replaced the fuse and it worked fine. Today, on my way home, the audio cut off randomly. The fuses are fine but none of the lights come on the amplifier anymore. I checked all the wiring 2 weeks ago and it was fine, I do not thing anything happened between then. I have a US Acoustics 4 channel amp.

Any ideas? This sucks. Finals just ended and I have to drive 4 hours home in 2 days :(

and you checked all fuses both under the hood and left of the steering wheel?

Why would I check those? It is an aftermarket amp, it has its own wiring.

i would check the main fuse on the power cable again. i had instances where the fuse looked fine but the middle metal piece somehow broke off from the end caps. did you check the fuses on the amp itself? (if any)

maybe there's a wire accidently grounding itself somewhere?

check them because two days ago i was working on the car a cut 2 wires together by accident and puff there went the fuse. amps shut off . checked every fuse and it was one under the hood. my problem solved.;

how would that affect an aftermarket amp with its own wiring though?

Even a fuse that looks okay can be blown..

Did you ever figure out why the amp blew a fuse?

Don't know why it blew a fuse, fixed the problem; had to clean the fuse contacts on the amp some reason :noes:

Working great now though.

Interesting, what was on it?

Old plastic from the blown fuse
