Losing VSS signal to Navi while driving
Hello,
Tried the search and didnt find anything relevant to my problem. I have an OEM navi that I installed in my I30. About a month ago I noticed the vehicle indicator (red arrow) was no longer moving on the screen and the navi would be stuck at the location it stopped moving. This was sporadic at first and now happens everytime I drive. Interestingly, it happens at about the same amount of driving time - 20-25 mins. The Infiniti navi has a diagnostic function that lists the signals it receives from the car - speed, reverse, etc. I drove yesterday with this diagnostic screen open and after about 20 mins the navi lost the speed sginal (VSS). Turning the car off and immdeiately on does not seem to solve the problem. If the car sits ovenight or a few hours it usually receives the VSS signal.
I was able to check the wire connections at the navi which are fine, but havent yet checked the tap behind the cluster. Seems to me though its not a wire connection issue, but rather once the navi unit has benn working a while and heats up, it loses the signal.
Any thoughts or experience with this? Thanks very much in advance.
