Why doesn't someone please...
 
post a sticky explaining in layman's terms all about car audio...

i took Electricity & Magnetism in college and i still don't understand how Hz, Ohm's, Capacitors, etc apply to car stereos...

this is something i'd really appreciate as well as many other people who know how to rebuild a tranny but don't jack about systems...

thanks to anyone bold enough for this task

There was a long one I had a while back asking about ohms and it had a lot of good info on there.

Read the FAQ thread at the top of the board. There are several websites in there that explain that stuff in excruciating detail. an intelligent 3rd grader should be able to understand most of it on a couple of the websites in there.

headunit- a device that turns digital/analog signals to something u can listen to...most crucial wires in a headunit is...12v...ground...and speakers wires...

speakers- a device which signal is sent to so that it can produce the audio...usually in a shape of a circle/oval w/ magnet at the base...and two terminals to connect to headunit...

amplifier- the name is self-explanatory...it amplifies/magnifies the signal comin in...makes the signal stronger/louder...requires...input signal...output signal...and 12v and ground...
