Who makes the best headunits?

I'm looking for one of those cool HU's that flip out with an LCD screen. I'm leaning towards Alpine because I've had 1 in the past but would like to hear everyone's opinion.

I have ONE thing to say. pioneer and whatever may be ok but you CAN'T LOSE with Alpine. Hands down, never..... They are the 3M's of industrial goods.

Eclipse are also high end quality....

I don't think that "best" can be easily quantified, since there are too many different factors to consider. You should probably just ask if people know of units with problems to avoid. Beyond that, just get whichever one has the features and performance you want.

Over 75% of all IASCA, dbdrags, etc. use Eclipse head units for their superior sound quality and ultra clean pre-amp section.

With all Eclipse head units you pay for sound quality and not for a light show

7002 is discontinued. Some dealers around your area might have some good deals on these to get rid of them for the new 2002 models. I don't have anymore....we have been selling the new model AV5101.

Best in the world are Macintosh. They're expensive, many people don't know about them, but then Eclipse, Alpine and Nacamichi are the best choices.

I was an Alpine fanatic (still like em) til 4 years ago, then switched to Eclipse and haven't looked back. For high output voltage and low output impedence you can't beat em with anything in that price range. Alpine's top of the line tuner is very nice if you like them 7990 is the model number I believe. I really haven't heard anything other than those 2 that were comparable in that price range.....

Never ever ask what the best is.

But if cash isn't a big concern, Nakamichi, or alpine f1 if you can find one.

Easy there. I have had experience with a Sony HU in my former car. Had it for 2 weeks then swapped it out for an Alpine.

just my opinion.. but i think the best in dash tv to get rite now is the kenwood 911dvd.. it has more toys and features than you could possibly imagine. touch screen, video angle adjustment(the unit doenst move just the angle the movie is shown). the features are truly endless. usually people buy the in-dash tv's to show off. if thats what your lookin to do this is by far the biggest attention getter rite now. also, it comes as a complete package. theres nothing else you need to buy for everything to work. the only other thing you can get for it is the decoder box for prologic sound. if your seriously looking into these things, you NEED to take a real close look at the kenwood. the eclipse and alpine may rank slightly higher in sound quality, but i cant imagine it being much better if your using quality stuff through out your stereo. a friend of mine has this with only 1 componet set, and two 12" diamond audio m5's with a 6 channel diamond audio amp. he kept the stock bose rears for fill and they are just powered off the radio itself. the sound quality of this stereo is mind blowing.. i cant remember what componets hes running but i know there from germany and sell for about 300 for a set. the stero is absolutely crystal clear.
