iPod with base 2002 audio
 

Hey -

Brand new Maxima owner, looking to hook up my iPod to the base (non-Bose) stereo. I've got the tape deck dongle, which works just fine. But what I'd like to do is to route a mini-plug from the stereo to the ashtray compartment behind the fascia, to keep the wires out of sight. Then when I unplug the iPod, I can pop the end of the wire back into the ashtray and close it up, leaving no trace. So is there an input in the back of the radio I can use, or is there a way to run the wire from the cassette dongle behind the face of the radio?

There are no RCA inputs on the back of the Stock unit. The most you can do to connect it to the radio in the rear is to use an amftermarket FM modulator. I've seen them for around $40 or so online, and this will allow you to connect just about any audio device to the stock radio (or any radi owithout Aux. Inputs). this wil also allow you to free up your cassette deck for cassettes.

you need two diversity antenna adapters (male and female) $11 each at Circuit City, and a RF modulator of your choosing. Will sound better than the tape thing. slightly.

If I were you, I'd wire it to the secret compartment in the top of the elbow rest. Or in the larger compartment, as it is notched for a cable.
