Can't find an autox schedule!
Hey everyone. I really want to start autox but I can't find my local schedule anywhere. I've checked dozens of sites but no dice. Where do you guys go to find your local schedules? Thanks a lot for you help.

You can start by going to http://www.scca.org/ and looking for the local SCCA club in your region. Also check other car clubs. Most are usually open to other cars as well.
Try here: http://www.nybmwcca.org/autocross/ |

nasa website: nasanortheast.com I don't know the M club's website, but I know they also auto-x there. |
Thanks for your help guys. On scca.org there are many events, how do I know which of these are open to amateurs? When I call the contacts I'm never able to get in touch with them. Are they all pretty much open to everyone? Thanks again for your help.

Oh wow nasanortheast.com is a great site. That pretty much answered all of my questions. Thanks for your help guys.

It just really seems to depend on where you are. Down here in NC, Tarheel Sports Car Club, www.thscc.com is the biggest and friendliest club around. They have a good autox, social, time trial events, AND rally cross. I started autox with them but then decided road racing was a better use of my time. I worked with them on getting the time trials started and it's really cool. Think one or two lap qualifying on a road course and that's TT. Really cool.

All auto-x events are open to amateurs. The phillyscca has a separate novice class that you can run in, they also give all novices a guided walk through of the course and provide instructors to ride with you as well. I would guess NASA does a lot of these things as well, but I can't say for sure, I was in the area so I went to see what NASA auto-x's were like, but I didn't have time to run. Either organization is a good environment for novices. NASA is used to dealing with all types of novices because they also do HPDE track events. SCCA is used to dealing with novice auto-x'ers (can't comment on their club races because I've never been to one). |
