Great Curvy roads in your area!
 

Today I was thinkin about all the great curvy roads in my area that I love to cruise when I want to test my cars suspension out a bit and than I was thinkin I should probably post these roads on the forum in case anyone in my area is lookin for a new road to have some fun on. I am thinkin if everyone contributes some roads we may get a nice little listing of roads possibly in your area that you havent tried out yet.

I'll start it off with : Rattlesnake Road in Andover, Ma

we have none.....the closet we got is a twisty section on a thruway....its called the 198 s-curves.....it prety good but its about it

Sections of Rt. 20 through Hartland/Barkhamsted, CT are fun, only a few rarely seen state troopers too. One end of Firetown Rd. in Simsbury is pretty good, although bumpy and a bit narrow in places. Parts of Rt. 7 over by Lime Rock are great too, not to mention some of the roads in Dutchess County, NY are a blast (parts of Rt. 44, can't remember what the other route i came back on was). Rt. 7 by Great Barrington, MA is good too, so long as you don't get stuck behind someone. Careful though, there are definitely troopers over there.

Fairfax Station Road...Fairfax Station, Va
Any/all of the roads in West Virginia, pretty much
Skyline Drive, Virginia Appalachian Mts.

I 278 Exit 7 (going to New Jersey) – Staten Island, NY – the best ramp I have ever seen. It’s also slightly banked to make it even more interesting.

BQE Exit 29b (going to Queens) – Brooklyn, NY – a nice decreasing radius exit.
I also call it my test ramp. :grinno:

Jackie Robinson pkwy - Queens, NY

Merit parkway – CT – my favorite – very fast and very interesting, oh don’t forget - dangerous

Almost all two lane roads in Connecticut.

Two nice turns on a road near my house, no one is around it's usually an empty road. Ive scared many people who were riding with me on this road... :D

The great part about living out in the sticks is that all the roads are windy and deserted!

i know this exit......i have been on it when i visit my girlfriends brotehr in SI....its sooo fun.......had my maxima down there in the summer and had a little fun....

This is pretty cool that within 5 posts we are stating roads that other board members know as well.

Too bad I'de take crap from the mods or else I would post this in a more active forum like the 4th or 5th gen forum

I absolutly wish I could live in california along the coast some time. You see california roads on tv that go along the sides of mountains and overlook the ocean at the same time. I would love to unwind an amazing sports car down those roads. When I was in italy a few years back my family took a trip down the amalfi coast, which is an awsome trip, very much like the coastal roads in california.

all service roads on the N. Causeway approach - Covington/Mandeville, La

those are some of the roads that really stand out...the last one i had a lot of fun on today when there were no cars :grinno:

Anyone in the Philly suburbs know the area around the I76 ramp in Gladwyne? Some CRAZY roads in that area. Besides my brother, I've only come across two people who could run with me from Mill Creek Rd. to the ramp...

Also, can't forget East and West River Drive in Philly. Those roads really separate the men from the boys.

The only problem with this area, of course, is that once you actually realize how impossible it'd be to stop after whipping around a corner and seeing a deer, stuff becomes so much less fun... :hmmph:

That's what I like about where I live! Especially up here on the Canadian Shield (very rocky) near Lake Superior (tons of hills). Only thing that sucks is that many roads are gravel and you have to be careful for moose/deer certain times throughout the year.

My fav around here is Pike Lake road...its pretty insane so you can't drive too fast. Gorgeous scenery too as you wind around several lakes and through many hills. Fortunately it has a hard surface. The road I live off is pretty fun too:

hwy 18 going from san bernadino to lake arrowhead is great but beware as there are alot of rocks in the road in winter time......summer too for that matter

I hate I76, I try to avoid that road as much as possible, are you just talking about the ramp itself? Because the banked ramp going from I95N to I476 you can really move on.

You mean kelley drive, or the other side of the river?

Deer smear, that can happen ANYWHERE in PA, just drive. PA is funny to me because in certain directions just 20min outside philly you're in the sticks, not many cities have quite that degree of contrast.

I LOVE that drive! I remember smelling the burning rubber from our rental car's tires since it was so windy! I wouldn't mind living in that area at all...the scenery is amazing.

because of many, many earthquakes over the past god knows how many years...I am blessed with tons of canyon driving possibilities in socal...the "togue" canyon driving out here is rediculous...it's becoming too popular in most cases which draws too much local law enforcement attention...

for the philly people, barren hill road connecting conshohocken and lafayette hill in north philly. Take the conshi exit off of 476, go over the bridge and make a right at the light

is that right by the General Lafayette brew pub?

I was talking about the roads after you get off I76 there. I agree, I76 is a bish and a half...

Both, really. But mostly Kelley Drive.

:woot: It's so true!!! I can't wait to get my AGX/Canuck suspension put on during spring break, it's going to be awesome.

Curvy Roads + New Suspension (AGX/Canuck) + extra 15 hp (courtesy of a long awaited y-pipe) + securing my STS more (little loose due to the bracket nuts being stripped) = one hell of a ride .

Pretty much anywhere in southwestern Wisconsin is a joy to drive in. Unglaciated terrain (very hilly), sparsely populated, almost no traffic, and best of all, even the tiniest roads are paved and in excellent condition because of all the dairy farms (tanker trucks have to get through every other day)! The curves are great fun when you're pushing the limit, but I don't drive too fast because I'm worried about hitting farm animals or another car on a blind turn. These roads are also some of the best for road biking in the country for the same reasons.

Also, :sprint: on the Merrit Parkway in Connecticut. It's fun because it was built before the interstate highway standards so it's very narrow and the trees are so close...and watch out for those bridges and hairpin offramps.

You ever get out to Marcus Dairy in Danbury? Just like they do biker get togethers on Sundays, they should have maxima get togethers on Saturdays. Isn't Custom Enterprise right in Danbury anyway?

Has to be the Angeles Crest Highway. In california, off the 210 freeway, exit Sunland.

The Angeles Crest Highway, SR2, is 66 miles long from I-210 in La Cañada to Mountain Top Junction at SR138. The highway was originally envisioned in 1912 as "the most scenic and picturesque mountain road in the state", but the need for a road for fire-fighting was at least equally important. Funds were allocated beginning in 1919, construction began in 1929, continuing piece by piece until 1956, except from 1941 to 1946 during WWII.

nyc roads are a joke as far as goin for an enjoying drive. exit ramps only last for 30 seconds, and its only 1 turn...not that fun. gotta go to pa or conn.

I'm glad someone mentioned Deal's Gap in NC. I don't live close, but I visit around there all the time for vacation. On the motorcycle it is one of the best roads in the world! I think it would be really fun in the Max, but I don't know if you would ever get out of 1st or 2nd gear.

Here in N.Y.C. On late nights I used to test my suspension on the Interboro aka JRP or the Bronx river parkway before it splits in to the Taconic. Nice twisty roads on that one.

Damn Rd. in Fort Mill, SC is a great road.... starting out you have 2 hairpins, then its pretty fast from there...

Ulsh Gap Rd. West Beaver, PA

Anything up in the mountains there is going to be a good time. I found that one in my Miata one day. On a day designated specifically for finding cool twisty roads.

Also Rt. 76 (i think) just south of San Juan Capistriano heading east is a heck of alot of fun. I haven't been there since the fires of 2 years ago though.

all of you flatlanders...lol Here in colorado we have some amazing roads to experiment on. My absolute favorite is hwy 133 from Paonia to Carbondale, not only are the views amazing but the drive is unbeatable winding curves mixed in with some straights. I used to drive everyday in my old ford probe(back in the day) and would drive as fast as that thing would let me, and there are never any cops. I would love to take my max up there but it's hard to get away for a cruise with a family at home. Mapquest quotes this 60 mile drive at 1hr and 24 mins but it usually only took me about 50!!!!

Wow, now that is nice. Sorry I couldn't throw in a topo map of some of the penna roads. Roads I thought were awesome just didn't look so cool on a map cause you couldn't see the hills involved.
