My max on the Nurburgring!

Finally made it out on the Nurburgring last week. Took my friend in his VW Corrado out with me. Let me just say, that is one long *** track. (20KM) The max handled quite well to my surprise. The brakes on the other hand, not so good, I definately need an upgrade from OEM. Here are a couple of pics going to and on the track. Took a couple vids too but haven't uploaded them yet.

Awesome images. I'm sure it was fun. :doublethu

Yeah it was lots of fun, like I said before though a bit scary when you press your brakes and the stopping power just isn't there. Since the track is so long too, it's hard to know the racing line. You just don't know what kind of turn is ahead. After quite a few laps, I'm sure you could push the car a little harder though.

to repeat, i hate u...again, just jealousy. :007:

I raced on the Nurburgring in Forza Motorsports!:p :mardi:
I wish I could go there someday.

So you exported your Maxima over to Germany? Millitary service?

I've raced it before too.....in a Ferrari F50 GT.......in Project Gotham racing on Xbox 360! :wall:

A fun track indeed!

Cheers to you and your excellent adventure!

Great pics btw

Not even worth it since I don't know the line and couldn't drive it to it's full potential. Only took a couple laps and wasn't even close to being race worthy. Besides the RS4 and M5 the max was the only other sedan out there. Both a bit out of the max's league.

Correct on both counts..."U.S Air Force, no one comes close" FTMFW!

I wonder if you could learn or get familiar with the lines by playing a game like Project Gotham Racing. Who knows, maybe it's a spot on turn for turn rendition if it, giving you a good idea of where the turns and lines are. Get those brakes done, get yourself a 360 and the PGR game, play it for a while, get back to the track sometime and let us know!

Curious, is it an invite thing, or can you just go there, sign up, and pay a fee to race it whenever you want?

D-Bo 07-29-2006 03:47 PM

What was the cost to run it? I would think it would be fun without being compe***ive.

edit: WTF censor tet?

on an episode of Top Gear, i thought they said it was something like 35-40 Euros.....?

97SEdriver 07-29-2006 07:40 PM

Yeah, I know it's cheap, there's families out there sometimes with their vans and what not just putting along....

Search for videos on the Nurburgring, it's the same as in GT4.

16 Euros for one lap, 56 for 4 laps. Any vehicle that can go above 60 kmh is allowed on the track. Yes there were a couple vans out there.
Here's the website with a webcam and info:
http://www.nuerburgring.de/1_nuerbur...index.html?L=1

You can even ride along in an M5 with a professional driver. Wanted to do it but theres a 6 week reservation period and it costs 180 Euros for one lap. Ride in the Dodge Viper was 280 Euros.

Aweswome man!!
before I die, I WILL drive the ring. even if it's in a bicycle.

Nissan 6 07-30-2006 10:07 AM

Your so lucky, must have been soo much fun.

Broaner 07-30-2006 01:51 PM

Amazing...

GT 3 and 4 seem to be very accuarate in their track renderings. I'm sure its nothing like the real thing but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

Matt93SE 07-30-2006 02:40 PM

The funny thing is that even pro race drivers have been known to use the games as simulators on tracks that they havent' been to in a while.
the main difference I've heard about them is that the vertical aspects aren't quite as realistic at the tracks. of course how can you when you're sitting still on a couch watching a TV screen!

Broaner 07-31-2006 05:17 AM

Definitely true on that aspect. On those games you run a track backwards and what you thought were hills before turn around to be hills the other way. Its really wierd like that.

ajcool2 07-31-2006 06:45 AM

Yeah that does sound like fun. I'm going to put that on my list of things to do and places to go. What was tha fastest you got up to and were the ferrarris flying pass you?

I'd like to see you ride the ring IN a motorcycle.

DandyMax 07-31-2006 04:10 PM

Wow awesome! I'd love to putter around that track (and I use that word very loosely.. lol). Must have been a blast.
