Tried the 275s
I ran the Maxima at an event today. I ran my 17x9s with 275/40 Kumho 710s, there was no rubbing. The car felt good thru 90% of the course, the final element was so tight the power steering could not keep up. I have a feeling the huge tires did not help the P/S issue. I was almost 1 second slower than the winning DSP Miata. Now I remember why I race my Z vs the Maxima...lol
You would think this would rub http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/100_0791.jpg |
I'm very surprised there was no rubbing.

Wow. 275's on a Maxima? With NO rubbing?

Here is video shot in a AE86 Corolla, you can see how tight the finish was http://s453.photobucket.com/albums/q...009levinsc.flv |

yeah, now he's got me thinking of going to 265 or 275 daily...

I'll try these next... 17x10s with 275s.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../max10s015.jpg I think you could run 275s all around on a 4th gen with the right offsets. I'll test fit my 17x9.5 +38 RPF1 one day on the front to see what it looks like (Haven't test fitted it before due to the needing a spacer with the Z32 calipers. I don't have the Z32 brakes on at the moment so I'll try it one day) |
I'm pretty sure the 9.5 +38 rpf1s would fit. tightly, but they should.
it would be 9mm less inner clearance than a 9inch +35 (what i run), and id like to think I have 15+mm to spare. i think :noes: |

As chance would have it, a racer is getting new race wheels for his Z and has offered up his 18X10 RPF1's in a +35 off set. I'm going to test fit them this week with some 275s:hide:

Definately stay with the 17x10. The 9's aren't quite wide enough to support - surprised you didn't notice any squrim or similar on them. I test fitted V710 265/45/16's a while back and got lots of fender rub. I went back to 245's since I only lost .4 of sec width and got better steering response back.
